We had a great time recently attending the 2024 American Association for Justice Fall Conference! This year's conference theme was Designing for Change: How Architects are Transforming the Justice System. We enjoyed the networking opportunities and learned a lot from the keynote speakers who spoke on various topics such as human-centered design, flexible and adaptable spaces, community integration, technology integration, and restorative and healing environments. We also got to attend a tour of the amazing Johnson County Youth & Family Services Center! We look forward to attending again in the future!

We were honored to be one of the recipients of Sacramento Business Journal's 2024 Best Places to Work award at last night's ceremony! A huge thank you to our employees for making this achievement possible. We are proud to have created a workplace where passion meets purpose, and our employees can feel fulfilled.

Thank you to the Concrete Masonry Association of California and Nevada for having us at the 2024 Design Awards! We are humbled that our firm won a Directors Choice Award for exemplary support of the concrete masonry industry and incorporation of concrete masonry in project designs.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month we are highlighting noteworthy architects and engineers from this community. We'd like to highlight Luis Barragán. Luis was a Mexican architect and engineer, known for his use of bright colors. Barragán won the Pritzker Prize, the highest award in architecture, in 1980 and his personal home, the Luis Barragán House and Studio, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. His notable projects include the Fuente de los Amantes, Casa Gilardi, San Cristóbal Estates, and the Torres de Satélite.

Thank you to the We Can Do It Together event for having Tenley Lubarsky and Amber Whitmer at their event at the Aerospace Museum of California yesterday. We are grateful we had the opportunity to inspire and encourage the nearly 2,000 middle school and high school girls from San Juan Unified School District and Twin Rivers Unified School District to pursue STEM/STEAM education and careers.

Thank you to everyone who participated in and sponsored the 13th annual George Lionakis Memorial Golf Tournament! We loved seeing everyone on the course and can't wait to see you all out there next year!

Our Interns are wrapping up for the summer! Recently the interns gave presentations summarizing their summer here at Lionakis. They all shared the work they did on projects and what they learned, making sure to highlight what their favorite thing was! It was great to share, while also practicing/receiving feedback for their presentation skills. There was a common theme of having new experiences and outlets for learning. We also celebrated the close of their internships by doing a send off at the office with food and games, We are excited to see where their talents take them next. Wishing our interns all the best as they continue to soar in their careers!

Happy fifth Lionakis anniversary to Joe Yanta, our IT System Specialist II! Joe is an invaluable member of our IT Team, playing a pivotal role in many of the initiatives that keep us operating smoothly and his contributions have truly enhanced the efficiency of our operations. He was also critical in getting us set up to work remotely during COVID-19 and setting up our equipment in our new Sacramento office. Thank you for all your hard work, Joe, and here's to many more Lionakis anniversaries in the future!
