Our Treasurer’s Office Team Lead Maddi recently received a letter of appreciation from an out-of-state customer. She is a shining example of Linn County staff putting customer satisfaction at the forefront of our work. Here is what the customer had to say: "Maddi, thank you for your email and assistance. When you reached out to me yesterday to help, I was quite shocked by the excellent response time...You were a breath of fresh air, solution driven, and genuine. Thank you so much." At Linn County, one of our core values is recognizing the contributions of our staff. Way to go, Maddi!

David Thielen, Executive Director of Linn County Community Services, recently joined nearly 2,000 county leaders in Washington, D.C., for the National Association of Counties (NACo) Legislative Conference. During the event, attendees discussed key federal policies, including childcare, Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, tax policies, AI, behavioral health, and disaster preparedness. Thielen also participated in NACo’s Human Services and Education Steering Committee and the National Association of County Human Services Administrator Board of Directors. The conference wrapped up with a Capitol Hill Day of Action, where county leaders advocated for local priorities. Events like this help strengthen Linn County’s voice at the federal level!

Our Planning & Development Department recently hosted code officials from across Eastern Iowa for "When Disaster Strikes Evaluator Training." This essential training prepares qualified individuals to conduct Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluations—a critical role in community recovery efforts. Participants gained valuable skills, including: ? Understanding the role of a Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluator ? Learning how to assess building safety after a disaster ? Increasing awareness of operational hazards ? Meeting training and credentialing requirements To top it off, attendees enjoyed delicious catering from Willie Ray's Q Shack—a local favorite! Willy is known for his generosity, traveling to disaster-stricken areas to provide free meals to those in need. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this training a success! Our communities are in good hands for when disaster strikes.
