Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, when we aim to remember the past, present, and future victims of transphobia around the world. We're living in dark times. Many people feel threatened, ignored, and marginalized. Some take out their fears on the even more marginalized, including the transgender community. There is room in the insurance industry, in London, in the United Kingdom, and all across the world, for all of us. All of us. All we need do is seek common cause and share our common humanity. To debate without rancour. To question without seeking blame. Let us reject the victimization and marginalization of others. Let us extend the hands of love and understanding. Call out the action, the deed, not the person. There but for the grace of whatever-you-believe-in go all of us. We were due to post an interview with the wonderful and insightful Samantha Jayne Nelson today. Sadly, we ran out of time to do the interview justice and have it posted today. Rest assured that it is coming soon and will be well worth the wait. If you know Samantha, you know how true that is... If you need our permission to do a good deed today, you have it. We are not going anywhere. Emotions are raw and many people including those in the LGBTQ+ community, are feeling uncertainty about the future. The LGBTQ+ community has a rich history of courage and perseverance. We have been tested before and have emerged stronger. We can do it again. Change may not come as quickly or easily as we hope, but each step forward builds on the progress made by those who came before. Stay connected with supportive networks and communities.
