While working closely with the project manager, Linear provided general conditions throughout the project, ensuring seamless coordination and efficiency from start to finish. The newly renovated library now features modernized reading areas, upgraded technology stations, an expanded children’s section, and a brand-new Teen Center designed to provide a dedicated space for young adults to study, collaborate, and explore new learning opportunities. This transformation reflects our commitment to enhancing public spaces and delivering high-quality results for our clients.

Linear Contracting Inc. was founded in 2002 with a very innovative idea in mind.? We found a niche in the construction industry, and quickly captivated a new and untapped marketplace.? At the time, there seemed to be an incredible demand for a union cleaning contractor to bridge the gap between the construction unions and companies who are looking to work on union projects but could not sign a full agreement with the unions.?? Many contractors often sub-contract the general conditions portion of their contract to us and Linear provides our clients with greater flexibility by performing the work with a union trade workforce. ?We introduced the idea to the local unions and forged an alliance, which has grown into a great working relationship.??The response to our services was overwhelming and it soon spread to many local contractors, owners and developers, mostly signatory, but many whom were not as well.? These contractors, owners and developers expressed a need for us to provide them with quality union labor (carpenters, operating engineers, etc.) on demand. Since our inception, we have been a member of the Building Contractors Association and assisted with negotiations with the unions whom we remain signatory to. We have made some major accomplishments and helped orchestrate one of the largest project labor agreements in NYC’s history.? We have built a strong, solid relationship with the unions.? Linear has come to be known as a company they know they can rely on.? Whether signatory or not, all of our clients benefit from a liability stand point when subcontracting us their labor needs.? Our specialty is providing top notch union men and women, all of whom are certified in many areas, as well as trained in 10 hour OSHA, some with 32 and 40 hr certificates.

Linear Contracting is proud to have provided the General Conditions for DC 37’s newly redeveloped headquarters at 125 Barclay Street, culminating in the union’s 80th anniversary celebrations. While working closely with the Construction Manager, our team ensured that everything on our end was handled seamlessly throughout the five-plus-year redevelopment effort. The result is a consolidated operations center for New York City’s largest union featuring updated mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler systems; a new modern fa?ade; and expanded elevator capacity for improved accessibility. The building also offers a rooftop garden, private event space, and a public patio for members, reinforcing DC 37’s commitment to sustainability and enhanced services for its community.
