Inspiring the current and next generation of tech leaders by co-creating innovative learning technology solutions
关于我们
Throughout my career, I had been recruited by several leading tech companies to help my colleagues elevate and produce innovative learning content and technologies. After helping more than 20 tech clients and hundreds of colleagues, I realized that working within a given tech company limited how many teams, people and bottom lines I could impact. I wanted to help more teams to be successful and more companies to be innovative in the learning space. While working as a learning strategy consultant for a learning technology company, I recognized that it was the innovations that I was pitching to clients on sales calls that landed new clients for this company. It was then on the dev team to deliver on the innovation. When I was empowered to work directly with the assigned dev teams and coach them through my process, we were able to produce remarkable solutions in dramatically less time while at the same time creating innovations that the company hadn’t done before. But if I wasn’t directly involved after the contracts were signed, the dev teams followed their usual processes, took longer and ended up producing products that missed the mark. It then became apparent to me that the secret sauce was my “do it with you” approach where I work directly with the dev team and coach them through my rapid development innovation process. I realized that this is what I had done in several of my previous roles, and that it would be entirely possible for me to focus on this approach as a consultant coaching internal teams and teaching them my process by doing it with them. Many of my clients have been previously burned by scope creep, wasted effort and extra expense when hiring vendors or using internal teams for high-profile learning projects. My ability to provide expert advice and co-create solutions with teams empower them to solve the problems at hand. My passion for the work and drive for results enable them to ship high-quality learning solutions on compressed schedules.

More adventures with NotebookLM... This is an autogenerated podcast based on the source recording from my Far-Transfer Training webinar from back in July 2024. I literally did nothing but download the .wav file, throw it into Camtasia, add the audio visualizer and published as the .mp4 you see here.

Today I've been experimenting with NotebookLM. Using the recordings from my Far-Transfer Training session I did back in July, I was able to produce comprehensive learning support content in seconds. If you missed the session, here's the source guide summary and key topics that was auto-generated - I would make a few tweaks in the interest of accuracy and consistency, but in terms of speeding up content creation, there is SO much potential: Summary This excerpt is a transcription of a live training session on far transfer training, a key concept in instructional design. The speaker, Linda, emphasizes the distinction between near transfer tasks (procedures) and far transfer tasks (principles). Near transfer tasks are step-by-step, consistent processes with predictable outcomes, such as filling out a timesheet. In contrast, far transfer tasks require judgment, critical thinking, and adaptation to changing circumstances, such as developing an effective hiring interview strategy. Linda argues that far transfer training is crucial for preparing individuals for complex, dynamic, and information-based jobs, particularly in the age of generative AI, which excels at automating procedures but struggles with the nuances of far transfer tasks. Through a series of interactive examples and discussions, Linda delves into the design process of far transfer training, outlining the steps involved in identifying valid guidelines, crafting learning objectives, selecting appropriate instructional approaches, and creating realistic scenarios for practice. The session highlights the importance of designing training materials that go beyond simply providing information and include practice opportunities that allow learners to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts. Key Topics Near vs. far transfer Procedure vs. principle Guideline development Training design AI & automation

Some helpful advice on venture capital, from a VC...
General Partner at Joyful VC | Ex-Silicon Valley Lobbyist | #1 Bestselling Author | Founder of VWS | Keynote Speaker | Rolling Stone Contributor
Here are five reasons to say "no" to venture capital (from a venture capitalist)... 1. You want to grow slowly. → Most VC funds need to return in 8-10 years, so expect high-growth demands. This may contradict with achieving profitability, improvements, R&D, or other goals. 2. You want to keep control of your company. → Your investors will own more and more of your company, as rounds progress. You will likely (but not always) lose majority control of the company. 3. You don't want to sell your company. → VCs expect a return, which means an exit. Most exits are done by IPO or M&A, usually M&A. Investors will expect their money back on their timeline -- not yours. 4. You are set on going public. → This might sound contradictory, but an IPO is 6x more expensive than M&A, on average, and less than 1% of startups go public. If you are deadset on going public, you may want to reconsider VC, because they will likely push you to get acquired earlier. 5. You are a lifestyle business. → 99% of companies are lifestyle businesses, meaning they are not designed for high-growth. There is no shame in building a great, profitable lifestyle business. As a Jenny side note: I know a lot of successful founders with exits between $1 million to over $1 billion dollars. The latter is, obviously, extremely rare. When removing those $1B outliers, my friends with the best exits based on time value are often acquisitions, who bootstrap with little to no outside capital. This can be the 'quick flip', with a couple years of work for a few million dollars, or a 'bootstrapped' long-term play, that could pay $10s of millions. Founders who raise tons and tons are often extremely diluted by the end and may end up with a significantly smaller paycheck than you might think. Hmm... thoughts? ?? I'm opening up my comments below to answer questions for the next hour on #VC. Drop your questions below or share & tag folks who should see this. ???? --- I'm one of less than 5% of women in VC and trying to reach 100K followers by December 31st.
