    philosophy + art + AI

    honest question: a key element of innovation at every AI company I have worked at is speculation. speculative design or design fiction or etc. usually in relation to expert interviews/deep listening etc. now my question: is there a single new product idea that has emerged from such speculation AND that has been successful? I see that companies use this type of work for communication and marketing and PR: ‘Look, we engage with the world and talk to these people/communities!’ (often I find the output surprisingly predictable and blend) but product? or technology development?
