We’re thrilled to collaborate with local artist Rachel Radona, who has created stunning painted surfboards as part of our Surfboard Mural Art activity for the Lā Hō?ike?ike event! ????? These one-of-a-kind surfboards will be transformed by the hands of our kamali?i, who will add their creativity and mana during this special event. Rachel is an extremely talented Native Hawaiian artist and a student-athlete at the University of Hawai?i at Mānoa. She enjoys art that tells mo?olelo (stories). Lili?uokalani Trust (LT) is a private operating foundation founded in 1909 by Hawai?i’s last reigning monarch, Queen Lili?uokalani. LT provides a complete array of healing services to kamali?i (beneficiary children) and their families to reach their full potential in life. With Hawaiian cultural values and practices as a foundation, our programs – in the arts, sports, ?āina (land) and creative media – boost self-confidence and instill leadership and resilience among youth. LT has broadened its mission from a social welfare casework focus to include community change initiatives that affect the systems impacting Hawaiian families. The primary beneficiaries continue to be orphan and other desitute children, but our work also emphasizes the building of thriving Hawaiian communities and families that nurture and support their children. Our vision is to make a deeper system impact by focusing on breaking the cycle of poverty for Native Hawaiian families. Our mission: To provide opportunities for Hawaiian children to realize their greatest potential: Living healthy, joyful, & prosperous lives, contributing positively to their families, communities & the world.

We recently launched a new feature on our website called "Voices of LT Teammates." Hear from Ka?ai?ai Paglinawan on how the Ho?opono program became a family legacy. "Ho’opono is a tool for families to resolve everyday problems because of the aloha that they continuously share with one another. Aloha is the basis of connection and belonging within families, and when they live in this way, they can prevent the deep hurts commonly experienced today. I see intergenerational strength. The young women of ?Aha ?ōpio Wāhine, ages 11-17, find it hard to say goodbye after their monthly gatherings at Kīpuka Ko?olau Poko. Through this program, established by Lili?uokalani Trust, they build confidence, explore their cultural identity, and strengthen their sense of kuleana (responsibility). By blending ?ike kupuna (ancestral knowledge) with modern life skills, these girls are supported as they navigate school, family, and friendships post-pandemic. Seven boys from Kīpuka Wai?anae recently spent a transformative week at our LT Ranch in Waimea, Hawai?i Island, immersing in the paniolo lifestyle. As part of Lili?uokalani Trust's ?ōpūali?i Hekili program, the boys connected with the ?āina and animals, practicing Hawaiian values like Hō?ihi (respect) and Pilina (relationships) through animal care, Maka?ala (observation) in the garden, and Ho?omalu (regulation) through creative art projects.
