Over the past three years, Lightspeed-backed Anthropic has been on a remarkable journey to push the limits of AI capabilities. Their clear focus on safety, reliability, and innovation is what first led us to partner with them in January 2023–even before having a public product. Since then, Anthropic has launched four generations of Claude, partnered with industry giants, and raised billions of dollars to accelerate their R&D and product deployment. Anthropic is at the forefront of a technological revolution, and we are thrilled to continue our partnership by leading their Series E, and supporting them along the way.

On this week’s episode of the Generative Now Podcast, Lightspeed Partner Michael Mignano sits down with Josh Mohrer, founder and CEO of Wave: AI Note Taker for iOS and Android, to explore how AI is expanding the potential of solopreneurship. Josh built Wave as a company of one, using AI to teach himself to code, develop his product, and scale his business without a team. His experience reflects a bigger shift in entrepreneurship. As AI continues to evolve, solo-run AI businesses are becoming more viable and could redefine the way companies are built. Congratulations to Lightspeed-backed ReflectionAI and Co-Founders Misha Laskin and Ioannis Alexandros Antonoglou on emerging from stealth with $130M in funding. We’re excited to co-lead their Series A and support them as they work to build superintelligent autonomous systems. Drawing from their experience as former Google DeepMind researchers and pioneers in Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Large Language Models (LLMs), Misha and Ioannis are introducing a new approach to AI-driven software engineering. They’re building systems that can autonomously write, debug, and optimize code, pushing the boundaries of AI in programming. When asked about the impact of this funding, Misha shared how it will help advance their mission and drive innovation in software development—watch below.

At TECHARENA 2025, Lightspeed Partner Antoine Moyroud discussed the need for a more unified European market, warning that inconsistent regulations could push entrepreneurs to look for opportunities elsewhere. Check out this clip from the session “The Global Tech Race” with Ebba Busch, Minister for Energy, Business and Industry, Chris Yiu Director of Public Policy at Meta and Dorothy Chou, Director of Policy & Public Engagement at Google DeepMind.

How do we generate excitement around tech and entrepreneurship in Europe? Had a good panel discussion at TechArena in Stockholm last week on this topic with Minister Ebba Busch and policy leaders from Google DeepMind and Meta (Chris and Dorothy). In the US, projects like the Stargate initiative push an ambitious narrative and exciting vision for entrepreneurs. Emmanuel Macron also recognised the importance of "global race narratives" with the latest €109 billion investments announced at the AI Action Summit. Europe needs to combine strong political will with an inspiring vision. It's the case for everything from health to education to defense but even more so for technology. We shouldn't be so focused on publicly discussing necessary regulations like the GDPR and the EU AI Act. While we make sure these technologies are deployed safely in the background, let's emphasize their potential for businesses and how they can positively impact society too (which Dorothy Chou aptly mentions at the end of this video, the cameraman got lost for a few seconds confusing Minister Busch for Dorothy..) ps: yes, I know, my speaking pace is fast and sometimes a bit hard to keep up with... a bit like AI these days ??

Enjoyed speaking with Tom Mackenzie this morning on Bloomberg to talk about our lead investment in Anthropic’s Series E and why we believe in the potential of AI to profoundly change the way we live and work. Lightspeed focuses on exponential technologies and the tipping points they cause. The journey we’re on with Anthropic and many other AI leaders is only in the early innings and the opportunities ahead are massive.
