The craziest thing happened, it went from bad to beautiful and here's how it started. We showed a jail our software, the commander and staff loved it BUT they said "no way will the public defenders ever agree to it, we won't be able to get it off the ground." Whaaaat? We pointed out that public defenders love Lightning Law, it solves their pain points, helps them work remotely, gets their clients better access to justice, ensures attorney client privileged communications, so we asked "why?" They explained that there was a lack of trust between the jail and the PD's office, but they appealed to us to reach out and see what we could do. Next, we spoke to the public defenders' office. Their faces in the remote video boxes were guarded as we began the demo, the questions were sharp and pointy (like a cross-examination). By the end of the meeting everyone was excited and hopeful, they wanted to know how quickly Lightning Law could be deployed, how soon they could use it. We carried the message back to the jail and asked them to talk directly to each other. Last week we learned from the jail that Lightning Law has created a bridge between the jail and the public defenders, they are now collaborating together as they implement our solution. Our software has solved not just their practical day to day operational problems but it has solved the trust problem that existed before we met these groups.
