What an incredible night!! We officially kicked off our Lighting the Way campaign at our soon-to-be-expanded headquarters in Pontiac. Dozens of our lead supporters, partners, and friends joined us to launch this transformative, once in a generation project to expand our Pontiac campus and implement lasting solutions to build a brighter future for everyone. Long time supporter Genisys Credit Union announced a new $500,000 investment in our campaign to alleviate poverty. We are truly grateful. Need a FREE ride to get out and #vote? SMART has announced that voters can get free rides in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties on Election Day this year. SMART will offer free rides on fixed bus routes, connector services, ADA Paratransit and SMART Flex from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 5. "Voting is a fundamental right, and transportation should never stand in the way of someone making their voice heard," said SMART General Manager Dwight Ferrell.

Thank you Metromode for featuring Lighthouse in this important story about how housing can help solve economic, health, and educational challenges in Oakland County. "Housing is often thought of [as] just a series of needs and a box to check that costs a certain amount of money in a household budget," says Ryan Hertz, president and CEO of Lighthouse, a Pontiac-based nonprofit housing developer and housing service provider. "But it's also the environment that influences the day-to-day life of the household and the family, the opportunities that the family faces, and how much it's going to cost for them to get from that location to ... work and school." Lighthouse is working to address this critical issue. We have $150 million in real estate development slated to break ground in 2025, including $120 million in multi-family affordable housing across Metro Detroit, and a $30 million redevelopment of our Pontiac main campus that will increase family emergency shelter capacity; expand food access and economic opportunity programs; and support pathways out of poverty for people in Oakland County — and beyond. Lighthouse is incredibly grateful to have the support of so many volunteer groups! Recently, groups from Genisys Credit Union, General Motors, Autoliv, Oakland University, Ally, The State Bank, and Lake Trust Credit Union have donated their time to distribute food, clean up outdoor spaces at our shelter, and sort incoming holiday donations. We truly could not serve our community without your help - thank you! Learn more about how you or your company can get involved at Lighthouse: https://lnkd.in/emJmcG_Y
