ePlus inc. partnered with Glow Academy to bring their Girls Re-Imagining Tomorrow Program (GRIT) to Cinespace Studios Wilmington, the area’s leading soundstage provider. The middle school students learned about making movies firsthand, and the impact technology advancements have made in film, from a panel of industry-leading women who shared their stories of success and growth over the last 20+ years in the film industry. The panel discussion, focusing on Women in Film: Technology & Digital Media, led by Michelle Roca (Local Producer) included Cinespace’s Lawson Sitterding (Head of Lighting) and Dawn Fletcher (Client Services & Operations Coordinator), Dale Williams (Producer), Erika Arlee (Writer, Director & Co-Owner of Honey Head Films) and our very own, Andrea Walker (Co-Owner of Lighthouse Films). This group of GLOW students also had an opportunity to explore select areas on Cinespace’s lot, visit the local Wilmington Film Commission, and engage with industry-leading camera equipment, provided and demonstrated by Lighthouse Films. Local Lighting & Grip technicians Hannah Funderburke and Kallie Costa led a lighting demo with state-of-the-art equipment, provided by Cinespace Lighting. ePlus Technology supports the complex nature of technology, combined with talent shortages, heightened risk and a rapidly evolving global landscape are creating unprecedented challenges for any company whose tomorrows are built on technology. They help organizations capitalize on these market shifts to drive opportunity by providing superior technical acuity, the ability to align IT with company growth objectives and trusted partnerships at every step of the journey. Girls Re-Imagining Tomorrow (GRIT) introduces middle school girls to technology-focused careers, emphasizing AI and cyber security. It was established in 2017 to address the shortage of women in cyber security. GRIT aims to build self-assurance and tenacity among young women to help them succeed in their careers and personal lives. GLOW Academy, based in Wilmington, is an all-girls public charter school that provides rigorous college-preparatory education and personal development. Their school culture promotes critical thinking, personal responsibility, confidence, and compassion. Their vision is "She WILL... Graduate, Go to College, Succeed in Life!" We at Lighthouse Films are deeply saddened by the loss of many North Carolinians. As the floodwaters in western North Carolina recede and the extent of the damage becomes more apparent, we feel compelled to take action. That’s why we’ve decided to donate 50% of the ticket sales from our upcoming Limited Theatrical Release of Cliff Cash: The Long Road at The Brooklyn Arts Center to support relief efforts in western NC. You can purchase tickets at the following link https://lnkd.in/eggbb9ZU, and we’ll share the amount raised on the day of the event. By sharing the artistry of our work with Cliff Cash and our fellow NC Film Crew, we aim to raise awareness of the ongoing challenges facing our communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and come together to support those in need. #westernnorthcarolina #directresponse #disasterrelief?#hurricanhelene #northcarolinalove #northcarolina #giveback

Lighthouse is honored to be featured in Cape Fear Living’s series Partners in Business & Life! There’s a lot of talk about how to achieve the all-coveted work-life balance—that is, the seemingly impossible ability to spend enough time at work to succeed and enough time outside of work to maintain a happy home life and all of the relationships, friendships, and self-care that come with it. For some couples, however, the line between personal and professional is pretty blurred because they are partners in love and business. Learn more at the link below about how Brad and Andrea Walker balance life with their passion for everything film including leading the charge with their team at Lighthouse Films.
