关于我们
LightHawk is a non-profit whose mission is to accelerate conservation success through the powerful perspective of flight. We leverage the skill and generosity of hundreds of volunteer pilots to benefit conservation projects. We believe seeing our world from above causes people to care about what they witness from the air and stirs them into action when they return to the ground. We partner with conservation groups in the US, Canada, Central America and Mexico to protect land and water for people and nature.

From the air, the world tells a different story. ??? A river winds its way through hills and forests. Wetlands teeming with life stretch farther than the eye can see. A coastline curves gently where land meets the endless ocean. These are breathtaking views—and they reveal just how much is at stake. At LightHawk, we see these places as extraordinary, fragile, and worth protecting. ???? That’s why we fly: to highlight these hidden landscapes, reveal their importance, and inspire action. This #GivingTuesday, you can help safeguard these incredible places. To inspire early giving, a generous board member will match all gifts up to $25,000. The time to act is now. Together, we can make a real difference. Give today at https://loom.ly/m5Wy4bo.

#PartnersAreSaying "These visuals would not have been possible without LightHawk. The ability to circle areas in real time of particular interest to be sure that visuals were captured, and also having experts there familiar with the landscape to help me read the topography and what I was seeing correctly was critical." - Caitlin Ochs, Buzzfeed News reporter ??????

Many shorebird species face threats in their wintering grounds. In 2017, LightHawk flew with Pronatura Noroeste to survey wetlands along Mexico’s Sonora coast, guiding efforts to protect migration routes. Today, we continue to leverage aerial insights to monitor these critical habitats, track changes in ecosystems, and inform conservation strategies that protect vital migration corridors for these and other long-distance migratory birds. #AerialPerspective #BirdConservation #LightHawk

#PilotViewFriday Volunteer pilot Evan Anderman recently flew alongside photographer Alexander Heilner over Utah's Great Salt Lake, capturing stunning aerial views for Heilner’s project on the American West’s water challenges. This flight gave Heilner a unique perspective to highlight the urgent need for water conservation in the region. Evan’s expert flying helped shine a spotlight on these critical issues from the sky. #GreatSaltLake #WaterConservation #AerialPerspective #AmericanWest #LightHawk

#PartnersAreSaying "On Oct. 28, someone reported a huge fishing net on a remote beach on Catalina Island. Before committing a boat load of scuba divers and crew out to remove it, I wanted to know exactly where it was and what the strategy would be to remove it. I flew with John (volunteer pilot) on Oct. 30 to locate it. The day was perfect for flying, with no winds and great visibility. From 1,000 feet up, we could see Catalina clearly, but the net was gone—likely washed back out to sea after big waves the prior week. These nylon nets can last 650 years, killing countless animals if not removed. I want to thank LightHawk and John for getting me out there so quickly. You guys saved us at least 2 days of travel in a boat with half a dozen volunteers that would have gone out there and not been able to accomplish anything. You saved us countless hours and fuel. Thanks!" - Kurt Lieber, Ocean Defenders Alliance
