Students need the freedom to make their own choices, but they also need support to know what those choices are. But there’s only one high school counselor for every 408 students, and transformative technologies like AI and worker shortages on the horizon mean that a moving target is even harder for future workers to plan their careers. So what can education and workforce development leaders do to help? Lightcast’s own Joshua Wright, together with Clare Bertrand of the The College Board have some ideas. Existing models show what’s possible—from using Career Coach and mobile apps to identify skills and career pathways to providing new resources helping high schoolers explore their options in the labor market.
