关于我们
Lifting Up Westchester supports our neighbors in crisis by securing restoring the foundation necessary for them to rebuild their lives. Each year, we permanently change the lives of 3,500 men, women, and children by finding them stable housing, food, income, and other support systems to allow them to maintain an improved quality of life. Lifting Up Westchester (LUW) helps build the reservoir of support necessary for our Westchester neighbors to flourish. We are here not only to repair well-being when it starts to breakdown, but also to construct a strong foundation to maintain this well-being over time. For four decades as one of the county’s largest social service nonprofits, we make sure that all of our neighbors in need have critical resources like nutritious food, stable housing, access to healthcare and education, and the strong support systems they need to regain their independence. Lifting up individuals is Lifting Up Westchester. We believe lifting individuals leads to stronger communities, a stronger economy, and a stronger society.

At LUW, the journey home is all about lasting stability. Our goal is to ensure individuals have the tools, support, and resources necessary to break the cycle of homelessness. In 2024, our housing programs ensured that 256 people maintained permanent housing. We also moved 60 individuals from shelters into permanent residences. ?? We know that moving in can be overwhelming, so we provide move-in baskets with essentials like bedding, dishes, toiletries, and cleaning supplies to make the transition easier. But our support doesn’t stop there. Our team offers ongoing guidance to help clients stay housed, with an average stay of over 10 years in our supportive housing program. #TheJourneyHome #ImpactReport #EndingHomelessness

Every young person deserves the opportunity to build a brighter future. In 2024, we supported 470 students—including 50 first-year college students—with academic enrichment, mentorship, and career guidance. From homework help and STEM workshops to literacy programs and test prep, our youth services equip students with the skills and confidence to thrive. Younger children build strong reading foundations through KidzLit, while high schoolers receive individualized mentoring to navigate college applications, scholarships, and career pathways. And at our summer camp, kids enjoy a safe space to learn, grow, and play. Education transforms lives. With your support, we’re empowering students with the knowledge and resources needed to break the cycle of poverty and achieve their dreams. #BuildingFutures #ImpactReport #MentorshipMatters

At LUW, community means connection. In 2024, 1,836 people were supported at Community Central. Guests received hot meals, a safe space to rest and rebuild, and opportunities for personal growth. Our afternoon programming included computer and ESL classes, a mobile library, creative arts, and group discussions on topics like mindfulness and navigating life’s challenges. We also provided opportunities for essential personal care services, including free haircuts, vaccinations, and on-site health assessments. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected Westchester—one meal, one program, and one opportunity at a time. #BuildingCommunity #ImpactReport #RebuildingLives

Homelessness was a harsh reality for Lindsey. Through financial hardships, family challenges, and health issues, the journey to finding stable housing wasn’t easy. But with the support of a LUW Case Manager, she found a sunny, welcoming apartment that finally felt like home. Now, nearly two years later, Lindsey reflects on her journey with pride. With a place to call her own, she’s been able to rebuild her life on her own terms. Because of supporters like you, Lindsey isn’t just housed—she’s thriving. She enjoys the little things that make a home feel like home, like watching I Love Lucy and crocheting blankets for her grandchildren. Thank you for making stories like Lindsey’s possible.
