  • Did you know that the United States ranks #1 in healthcare costs but only #26 in life expectancy? This stark contrast highlights a critical issue in our current healthcare system and underscores the need for a shift towards lifestyle medicine. The Current System: Western Medicine In the U.S., we see: ?? Highest per capita healthcare costs ?? Highest pharmaceutical costs ?? Declining life expectancy ?? High obesity rates ?? Prescription drug side effects as a leading cause of death ?? Despite high spending, health outcomes are poor, leading to an unequal healthcare system. Lifestyle medicine emphasizes the importance of good sleep, adequate sunshine, relaxation, physical activity, and most importantly, food choices. Our diet significantly impacts human, planetary, and environmental health. In the U.S., we see the highest per capita healthcare and pharmaceutical costs, declining life expectancy, high obesity rates, and prescription drug side effects as a leading cause of death. Despite high spending, health outcomes are poor, leading to an unequal healthcare system. Global environmental issues, such as climate warming, ocean pollution, water depletion, topsoil loss, deforestation, and mass extinction of species, indicate an impending environmental catastrophe. Research shows that 85% of chronic disease risk is related to diet. A plant-based diet can significantly reduce the risk of chronic diseases compared to a diet high in animal protein. Studies link animal protein consumption to various diseases, including kidney cancer, coronary heart disease, prostate cancer, breast cancer, heart disease, and colon cancer. In contrast, plant proteins do not show the same harmful relationships. Lifestyle medicine promotes a holistic approach to nutrition, emphasizing whole foods and plant-based diets. This contrasts with Western medicine's reductionist approach, which often leads to side effects. Let's shift towards lifestyle medicine and create a healthier future for ourselves and our planet.

  • ?? Reversing diabetes is possible? Reasearch says that plant-based diet can significantly improve health outcomes, including reversing diabetes and reducing hot flashes. The conventional diet approach typically recommended at clinics involves reducing calories and refined carbohydrates, and avoiding bad oils and fats. In contrast, the plant-based approach eliminates all animal products, minimizes bad fats, and focuses on low glycemic index foods. Glycemic index examples: ?? High glycemic foods: White bread (100), Baked potatoes (85), Bagel (103) ?? Low glycemic foods: Grapefruit (25), Chickpeas (33), Lentils (41) ? Our study showed that a vegan diet led to significant weight loss and normalized blood sugar levels without medication. One patient lost 60 pounds and stopped diabetes medications, with his A1c dropping to normal levels. In a study of post-menopausal women, those on a plant-based diet with soybeans experienced an 84% drop in moderate to severe hot flashes. Research indicates that plant-based diets can reduce the risk of developing cancer. In fact, nearly a quarter of new cancer cases could be prevented with better nutrition, including a diet high in plant-based foods and low in processed foods1. The thyroid, a small but powerful organ at the base of your neck, oversees your body's use of energy. It produces hormones essential for the functioning of the whole body. A plant-based diet can support thyroid health by providing necessary nutrients like iodine, found in sea vegetables such as nori and wakame2. Studies have shown that vegans and vegetarians have healthier thyroid functions compared to omnivores2. Why It Works? A low-fat, vegan diet helps break down intramyocellular lipids, improving insulin sensitivity and allowing glucose to enter cells. Plant-based diets with soy products can reduce hot flashes and other hormonal issues, potentially lowering the risk of breast cancer. That means witching to a plant-based diet can lead to profound health improvements, from reversing diabetes to reducing hot flashes and lowering cancer risk!

  • ?? How to transform Healthcare? If you’re hearing about Lifestyle Medicine and Health Coaching for the first time, the expert speakers in this book will clearly demonstrate that there’s a solution to the Chronic Disease Pandemic we’re experiencing right now. Before diving into the why and how of Lifestyle Medicine, let's start with two solutions that will transform healthcare, guaranteed: 1?? Ask your doctor and healthcare provider: “Do you offer lifestyle medicine?” “Do you prescribe lifestyle medicine and health coaching?” By asking these questions, we can encourage healthcare providers to implement new chronic disease solution strategies. Why? Because Lifestyle Medicine Works! ? But here’s my BIG PROPOSAL: Improving Health Outcomes. Fixing Healthcare. Saving Billions. Creating 100,000 Jobs – A No-Brainer Strategy! The U.S. healthcare costs have skyrocketed to $3.65 Trillion in 2018, with projections indicating an increase of at least 5.5% annually over the next decade. Over 80% of today’s healthcare costs are connected to non-communicable (chronic) lifestyle diseases like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and more. Traditional medicine solutions focus on managing these conditions, but they don’t address the root causes. We need innovative ideas to solve the healthcare crisis. Here’s my specific proposal: Invest in Lifestyle Medicine Doctors and Health Coaches on a national and global scale! Extensive research shows that preventing chronic disease improves health outcomes and saves healthcare costs. For example, reducing bypass surgery and stents can save $30,000 per patient in the first year alone, cutting healthcare costs by 50%. Let’s be conservative and estimate healthcare cost savings of 2-10% annually: ?? $73 Billion (2% savings) ?? $182 Billion (5% savings) ?? $365 Billion (10% savings) By investing just 0.2% of annual healthcare costs into prevention, we can save billions and create a win-win-win situation with new high-paying jobs, eased strain on current health professionals, and improved health and productivity. How? ?? 328 million people in the US ?? 120 million households ?? 25 million high-risk households need coaching (20%) ?? 250 households supported by one health coach ?? 100,000 health coaches needed to coach up to 100 million individuals Each health coach receives approx. $73,000 annual income This means investing $7.3 Billion in prevention to save $73 Billion annually. Health coaches will help patients shift unhealthy habits to eat better, exercise more, stress less, and love more. The best part? Addressing root causes will not just manage symptoms but help reverse them, improving quality of life and saving billions in healthcare costs. Sounds like a no-brainer to me!

  • Can AI support our health? ?? According to the CDC, about 80% of older adults have at least one chronic condition, and 50% have at least two. Chronic diseases and health problems are prevalent, making it crucial to have continuous support and effective strategies to manage these conditions. Public health efforts to promote health and functional independence are critical strategies in helping older adults stay healthy and live independently. By 2030, the number of U.S. adults aged 65 or older will more than double to about 71 million. This rapidly increasing number of older Americans has far-reaching implications for our nation’s public health system and will place unprecedented demands on the provision of health care and aging-related services. Research has shown that poor health does not have to be an inevitable consequence of aging. Older adults who practice healthy behaviors, take advantage of clinical preventive services, and continue to engage with family and friends are more likely to remain healthy, live independently, and incur fewer health-related costs. An essential component to keeping older adults healthy is preventing chronic diseases and reducing associated complications. Infectious diseases (such as influenza and pneumococcal disease) and injuries also take a disproportionate toll on older adults. Efforts to identify strategies to prevent or reduce the risk of disease and injury and to widely apply effective interventions must be pursued. ? AI could be designed for anyone facing chronic health and life challenges who needs 24/7 guidance, support, and accountability. This innovative coaching solution helps individuals let go of emotional-mental stress, stop mind chatter to be more focused, improve their mindset and find their life purpose, build better relationships and love more, earn more and succeed, reduce and resolve chronic symptoms, build resilience and strength, and live longer with a higher quality of life. Who do you think would benefit the most from this kind of coaching?
