In early October, the LifeStraw team arrived in Western North Carolina to help communities hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Over the weeks that followed, we worked with local organizations and communities to make sure folks have access to safe drinking water as they work to repair the wells, springs, and water treatment facilities that provide water across the region. Thanks to your generous donations + LifeStraw’s commitment, the team and our partners distributed more than $200,000 in water filters + purifier products, providing safe water to an estimated 25,000 people a day. We brought filters and purifiers that matched the needs of the people of North Carolina – our high-volume Community and Max purifiers for group settings, Home pitchers and dispensers for families, and Go bottles or personal filters for outreach teams and rescue efforts. The team worked with local teams of first responders, supported school distribution points and community feeding operations, and worked with local nonprofit organizations that provide specialized care and social services across the region. We also provided filters and purifiers for community and mobile health care teams operated by Mountain Community Health Partnership and International Medical Corps. Every community we visited, every organization we supported, and every individual we met we heard incredible stories of strength and resilience. We are proud to serve the people of North Carolina as they come together to rebuild.

Thank you to our partners The Change Climate Project and to our incredible community for supporting us.
I’m thrilled to share that LifeStraw has once again been Climate Neutral Certified by the The Change Climate Project!?This marks the fifth consecutive year (starting in 2020) that we’ve met these rigorous standards, and I couldn’t be prouder to work with an organization with such a firm commitment to climate action. This certification isn’t just a badge—it’s a testament to LifeStraw’s dedication to minimizing our environmental footprint and taking real action against climate change. It means we’re committed to measuring, reducing, and offsetting 100% of our carbon emissions through impactful projects like reforestation, renewable energy, and other sustainable initiatives. For LifeStraw, sustainability goes hand-in-hand with our mission to provide safe water solutions to communities around the world. That’s why I’m proud of the work that we do to constantly improve our processes, partner with forward-thinking climate projects, and hold ourselves accountable towards making a difference. In Western Kenya, a lack of period supplies means many girls face tough choices, like missing school. Access to period supplies is so limited, in fact, that some men take advantage of their needs, trading pads for sex. This leads to higher school dropout rates, STIs, and unwanted pregnancies. Through SafiCycle, we're providing reusable period panties and menstrual health education, helping girls stay safe, stay in school, and dream big. In November and December 2023, we distributed 6,999 period panties to 1,756 girls in six regions, with 98% of the girls using them. For $35, you can help a girl thrive in her studies, her health, and her future with period panties, education, and follow up. Your support can help us expand SafiCycle and reach thousands more girls in the upcoming year. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eCKw_y43

On the International Day of the Girl Child, a day dedicated to advancing girls' dreams for a brighter future, we’re highlighting SafiCycle—our program focused on menstrual health. In Western Kenya, many girls face a tough reality: access to period supplies is so limited that some men take advantage of their needs, trading pads for sex. This leads to higher school dropout rates, STIs, and unwanted pregnancies. Through SafiCycle, we provide reusable period panties and education, ensuring girls can stay in school and thrive. In November and December 2023, we distributed 6,999 period panties to 1,756 girls in six regions, with 98% of the girls using them. But it’s more than just giving products. We work within communities to teach girls about period hygiene and care for their products, ensuring lasting benefits. Our program also educates boys and men, breaking down stigma and promoting empathy to build a more inclusive society. For $35, we can support one girl with period panties, education, and follow up. With your help, we can expand SafiCycle and reach thousands more girls in 2025. Your support can truly change a girl’s life: https://lnkd.in/eUN63gTG

Today, we honor President Carter on his 100th birthday for his commitment to ending Guinea worm disease, a painful parasitic infection caused by drinking contaminated water. Since 1994, LifeStraw has partnered with The Carter Center to provide over 40 million filters, helping to reduce cases from 3.5 million to just 14. Together, we’re on the verge of eradicating it forever—without a vaccine. This partnership proves how powerful safe water solutions can be in changing lives. Happy 100th, President Carter. Here's to a future free of Guinea worm.?
