Mike Wacha honorably served as a firefighter with FDNY Ladder 51 when the attacks occurred on 9/11. Our team in Marshalltown had the pleasure of hearing his story and recognizing his incredible sacrifice during his blood donation today. He shared that he had heard our radio advertisements and committed to donating today as he is always compelled to come help others. Mike stated that LifeServe phlebotomist, Liz made his visit very wonderful and pleasant, and she helped remind him of how amazing it is to give back. He feels it is always best to try to give back to those in need and this opportunity inspired him even more. A hero amidst the tragedy of September 11, 2001, and a hero to the community blood supply today, September 11, 2024. We are moved by his commitment to serving his community. Join us in thanking Mike for his service and for his donation!

On this day of remembrance, we honor the courage, unity, and sacrifice of 9/11. In the face of tragedy, ordinary people became heroes. In some of his last words, Brian Sweeney said “…I want you to do good, go have good times, same to my parents and everybody.” Today, we invite you to live out Brian's last words and do good in your community by being a blood donor. Contributing to the community blood supply helps to ensure we are prepared for the unexpected and is an action that separates a hero from the ordinary. United We Stand. United We Donate. ?? When you donate today at Central Iowa donor centers with 92.5 KJJY, you'll earn a free Patriot Day t-shirt. The 2024 Patriot Day t-shirt is also now available on the online donor store for 200 points.

We're extremely grateful to have such a wonderful leader on our lifesaving team!
Meet Danielle West, one of the Business Record's 2024 Forty Under 40. She serves as regional vice president at LifeServe Blood Center. She represents the organization at an international level by being vice president of the Association for Blood Donor Professionals and presenting at several national and international conferences. Her goal is to educate the community "that sharing life locally matters and it’s the blood on the shelf today that saves lives." She enjoys attending festivals and events in the community with family. "From the moment my daughter was born, I felt an overwhelming sense of responsibility to be a positive role model for her," she says. "I believe that by demonstrating what it means to be a strong woman, I can inspire her to embrace her own potential and navigate life’s challenges with confidence and determination." https://lnkd.in/gYCHcBbQ

Mission Moment ?? Our Care Committee led a school supply drive for one LifeServe team member to be able to donate the supplies to the school of their choosing. She embraced our mission of impacting lives in partnership with the communities we support and donated these items to HOMER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS School on August 20th.
