We're thrilled to welcome Thomas Dyan to the LifeinCloud team! A rare combination of technical writer and hands-on builder, he brings decades of experience and an unrelenting curiosity for all things tech. Tom's journey into tech began when the internet was just taking off and most people still didn't know what an email address was. His first project - building a DOS system with just 4MB of memory - sparked a lifelong love for tinkering with hardware. This early start led him through an impressive career spanning #serveradministration, networking and #webdevelopment, supported by his science and technology degree from a major American university where he worked with research databases. His technical expertise shines particularly in the Linux world, where he's mastered #Ubuntu, #Debian, and #CentOS. Over the years, he's shared his knowledge through detailed guides about Raspberry Pi, Linux, cybersecurity, and computer networking for various tech publications. But what makes Tom's perspective unique is his hands-on approach - he's the kind of person who'll install #Gentoo on any hardware just to prove it can be done. When he's not writing about tech, Tom's usually in his home lab, experimenting with #RaspberryPi setups and his Synology NAS. He builds custom mechanical keyboards and DIY speakers for others, bringing the same curiosity and craftsmanship to each project. And after a day of tinkering, you might find him unwinding with roguelike games, watching standup comedy, or diving into science fiction novels. What drives Thomas is something we deeply relate to at LifeinCloud - the belief that technology should help everyone do more with less, especially smaller teams and startups. He's passionate about making difficult concepts easy to understand and helping others discover new tech that can improve their lives. You can already get a taste of his clear, practical writing style in his article about AI Agents: https://lnkd.in/gR2k52uA - it's a perfect example of how he breaks down complex concepts into digestible pieces.
