Two weeks ago, our team, clients, and friends at New Life Community Church in Carlisle came together for a 36-hour “Extreme Makeover” community service project. Together, we transformed multiple spaces around NLC's campus, including its Student Center and LifeWorks Marketplace. In the Student Center, volunteers painted walls, assembled ping-pong, air hockey, and foosball tables, and set up TVs and Nintendo Switch systems—ALL to create a fun, engaging, and safe space where youth in our community can experience true belonging in Jesus' name! And over in the LifeWorks Marketplace, our clients ripped up carpet, laid flooring, installed slatwall panels (which apparently weigh like 89,000,000 each...who knew?), assembled furniture racks, organized home goods, and more—ALL to provide a welcoming space where families and individuals moving out of homelessness can get what they need to make their house feel like HOME. We also had volunteers throughout the event outside landscaping, writing cards of encouragement, helping with food, cleaning, organizing, and so much more. In total, we had over 100 volunteers participate over the course of the weekend. Additionally, our clients helped raise nearly $40,000 for these ministry efforts. All told, our clients were able to help push NLC’s incredible ministry efforts months and even years into the future. Absolutely incredible! So, to everyone who volunteered and/or generously donated for this event, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. We are completely blown away by your outpouring of generosity and selfless service. Last week, we had the opportunity to celebrate our annual Valentine's Day Luncheon to honor our widowed and single clients. We know how difficult holidays like Valentine's Day can be in the shadow of loss, so joining together for an afternoon filled with great food, fantastic company and conversation, and some lighthearted (yet HIGHLY competitive) games was incredibly encouraging.
