"Wyatt was an athletic young man and 41 at the time he moved to Heaven. He was a master journeyman electrician, involved in mixed martial arts and a great son, husband and father. He always was very empathetic to people less fortunate and was very specific that he wanted to be in a position to help others. In fact, shortly before his diving accident, he told his sister that he was thinking of becoming a youth pastor at his church. Wyatt was also very clear that if anything happened to him, he wanted to be an organ donor. Wyatt was able to bless four people with his donations of heart, liver and kidneys. We as a family started what we call #4on824 and ask people on 8/24 every year to bless four people. Maybe just open a door for someone or buy coffee for the next person in line, whatever it is that they are led to do. This way we honor our son's gift to others by doing what we can while we are here." -Tony, Wyatt's mom

Jackie Dennis, a grateful lung recipient and special education teacher, led her class to make comfort blankets for donor families. “I’m lucky enough to have such a good relationship [with her donor's family] that I can send pictures of my daughter, I can send pictures of what my students are doing, and I get to show her the impact her daughter [the donor] has had on me — and her little sisters get to see that, and it’s so beautiful,” said Dennis. https://lnkd.in/gNr3VpSR

Eden Atwood knew that her son was not going to recover from the accident, at least not the way he would want to. Benjamin Hubbard Atwood Anderson, 20, was in critical condition after he crashed a motorcycle last May. He spent days in and out of surgery, surrounded by family and friends in the intensive care unit where he was hooked up to a ventilator. Each day doctors worked to keep him alive. Atwood said she began to realize that, if he survived, he would remain in the hospital for the next year and might never be able to do the things he loves, like skating, going to car shows or scootering. On Mother's Day weekend, she decided to let him die peacefully. His organs were donated, saving four other people's lives and restoring the sight of two other people. "What was the worst Mother's Day for me might have been the second best Mother's Day for those people," Atwood told the Missoulian in a recent interview. Holly's mom, Dana, died last May as a result of a heart surgery complication. Her family recognized that organ and tissue donation was a way to continue Dana's legacy of kindness. “My mom was my best friend and she was the happiest, most kind, and empathetic person around! She was an elementary school counselor, a friend, a mother, and a wife all with a smile on her face. We knew she qualified to be an organ donor, and that was a way for her to continue her kindness even in her death.
