Mission: Working together to save lives through organ and tissue donation
关于我们
LifeCenter Northwest is one of the 56 federally-designated nonprofit organ procurement organizations (OPOs) in the United States. LifeCenter Northwest saves and enhances lives by facilitating the recovery of organs and tissues in Alaska, Montana, northern Idaho and Washington. By educating the community about the need and the importance for people to register their donation wishes, we hope to help the 100,000+ people waiting for a transplant in the United States. Mission LifeCenter Northwest is dedicated to saving and enhancing lives through the recovery of organs and tissues for transplant. Payton passed away on March 20, but his impact did not end there. Long before this tragedy, he had made a decision that would ultimately change lives — he had registered as an organ donor. https://lnkd.in/gFraUiwN

Words matter.
The wrong words fuel fear about organ donation. Let’s fix that. Misinformation spreads fast, especially when outdated or harmful language is used. Words like “harvest” and “cadaver” create unnecessary fear and misunderstanding about donation. The truth? Organ donation is a selfless, life-saving gift that deserves respect. Let’s use words that honor donors and encourage more people to say ?????? to saving lives. Share this to help stop the fear and start the conversation using compassionate language.

"Wyatt was an athletic young man and 41 at the time he moved to Heaven. He was a master journeyman electrician, involved in mixed martial arts and a great son, husband and father. He always was very empathetic to people less fortunate and was very specific that he wanted to be in a position to help others. In fact, shortly before his diving accident, he told his sister that he was thinking of becoming a youth pastor at his church. Wyatt was also very clear that if anything happened to him, he wanted to be an organ donor. Wyatt was able to bless four people with his donations of heart, liver and kidneys. We as a family started what we call #4on824 and ask people on 8/24 every year to bless four people. Maybe just open a door for someone or buy coffee for the next person in line, whatever it is that they are led to do. This way we honor our son's gift to others by doing what we can while we are here." -Tony, Wyatt's mom

Jackie Dennis, a grateful lung recipient and special education teacher, led her class to make comfort blankets for donor families. “I’m lucky enough to have such a good relationship [with her donor's family] that I can send pictures of my daughter, I can send pictures of what my students are doing, and I get to show her the impact her daughter [the donor] has had on me — and her little sisters get to see that, and it’s so beautiful,” said Dennis. https://lnkd.in/gNr3VpSR

Eden Atwood knew that her son was not going to recover from the accident, at least not the way he would want to. Benjamin Hubbard Atwood Anderson, 20, was in critical condition after he crashed a motorcycle last May. He spent days in and out of surgery, surrounded by family and friends in the intensive care unit where he was hooked up to a ventilator. Each day doctors worked to keep him alive. Atwood said she began to realize that, if he survived, he would remain in the hospital for the next year and might never be able to do the things he loves, like skating, going to car shows or scootering. On Mother's Day weekend, she decided to let him die peacefully. His organs were donated, saving four other people's lives and restoring the sight of two other people. "What was the worst Mother's Day for me might have been the second best Mother's Day for those people," Atwood told the Missoulian in a recent interview. "His life mattered and he saved lives." https://lnkd.in/gGFWZFA9 // #donatelife

After Brendan Costello’s passing, his family learned of his selfless decision to donate his organs, which saved at least three lives across the country. We are proud of the work done by the team at LiveOnNY who approached the Costello family with compassion and care to make Brendan’s wish possible. Every day, teams like theirs, including at LifeCenter Northwest, work around the clock to support all donors and their families. More than 100,000 patients across the U.S. need lifesaving transplants to survive. The decision to be a donor like Brendan can save up to 8 lives and heal dozens more through tissue donation. Learn more about organ donation at lcnw.org and read Brendan’s story in The New York Times. https://lnkd.in/gVV3FHfq // #donatelife #organdonorssavelives
