Washington Research Foundation (WRF) has pledged $10M over five years to support the Seattle Hub for Synthetic Biology, a collaboration between UW Medicine’s Brotman Baty Institute (BBI), the Allen Institute, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Launched in January 2024, the Seattle Hub for Synthetic Biology is pioneering cell and genome reprogramming technologies to transform disease treatment. This funding, one of the largest in WRF’s 44-year history, will accelerate the Hub’s efforts to develop foundational datasets, models, and molecular tools that enable cells to record their histories and restore healthy functions.
