Licking Heights Local Schools

Lima Ridge Elementary, the newest school at Licking Heights Local Schools, opened this week on Tues., Nov. 19! The construction of Lima Ridge was a two-year process that required the partnership, support, and adaptability of our community members, staff, students, district leadership, Board of Education, and construction and architecture partners. THANK YOU to everyone who made this construction project possible. Our students will enjoy this state-of-the-art, innovative learning space for generations to come.

Congratulations to our October Peak Award winners! Peak Awards are given to staff who best exemplify our Pillars of Success and consistently work for the greater good of our students and district. Staff members nominate their peers and then present them with the award during the school day. Our staff at Licking Heights have some of the kindest and most generous hearts around. This year, we doubled our donations for the United Way of Licking County during our competitive October campaign with Southwest Licking Local Schools! Thank you to our staff for leading by example and demonstrating a community-first attitude to students.

Last month was National Principals Month, and to thank these hardworking pillars of our district community, the Human Resources office personally delivered a branded district umbrella and tasty treat to every principal, assistant principal, and dean of students at our seven schools. Thank you for all you do!

Licking Heights Local Schools is honored to support our veterans and active servicemembers. This week, in honor of Veteran’s Day, all schools K-12 will host recognition ceremonies for the families of students and community members who served. Thank you for defending our freedom. #HappyVeteransDay

Licking Heights is proud to take back the title of Battle for Broad Street canned food champion this year–and add a new title as blood drive champion, too! Thank you to the community members, students, families, and staff who helped us raise over 15,000 cans for LEADS of Licking County and our in-house food pantry.

District Office employees participated in a fall fun Paint and Sip event, led by art teachers Mandy Rubino and Rachel Fout, as a team bonding event last month. Thank you to Ms. Rubino and Ms. Fout for sharing their talents for teaching and painting with our team!

It’s a month of gratitude here at Licking Heights! In honor of Thanksgiving, we will be showcasing a few of the many reasons–and people–who make us thankful to be a Hornet.
