Our team at Liberty Justice Center is proud to stand with the amazing team at Defense of Freedom Institute for Policy Studies in filing this important complaint today with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights. As we prepared to file this complaint, I received a call from a courageous Illinois mother whose 13-year-old daughter was forced to change in a school locker room in front of a biological male student. Shockingly, three teachers and school administrators stood by, ensuring compliance and even threatening the girls if they refused to change for PE class. This is a complicated issue, but forcing young girls into these uncomfortable and distressing situations is not the right solution for anyone involved. https://lnkd.in/gK5wWXVV

关于我们
The Liberty Justice Center is a non-profit, non-partisan public-interest law firm that fights to protect economic liberty, private property rights, free speech, and other fundamental rights. First and foremost, the Liberty Justice Center seeks to ensure that the rights to earn a living and to start a business, which are essential to a free and prosperous society, are available not just to a politically privileged few, but to all. The Liberty Justice Center pursues its goals through strategic, precedent-setting litigation to revitalize constitutional restraints on government power and protections for individual rights.

Liberty Justice Center filed a lawsuit that could provide a blueprint for the Trump administration as it seeks to challenge DEI policies across the country https://lnkd.in/gya3mQpq

Today, Liberty Justice Center?filed a lawsuit against Mayor Brandon Johnson (and Bally's Casino). I could stop right there, and you could fill in a number of reasons why we should sue the Mayor, but today's reason is that Chicago’s government has blatantly violated the Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause by requiring a private business to enforce discriminatory provisions under the?threat of severe financial loss. On January 10th, we head back to the U.S. Supreme Court to argue for the First Amendment and against the ban and forced sale of TikTok--and any social media platform. We don't have to agree on the value of social media, but we should all agree on our right to decide for ourselves. Read an excellent analysis of the case by Cato Institute's Thomas Berry as he outlines his amicus: https://lnkd.in/gy6NKDST

‘Twas the Night Before Liberty ‘Twas the night before justice, when all through the courts, The cases were stirring, of many reports. Parental rights challenged, and unions exposed, As Liberty’s champions for battle composed. The lawyers were ready, determined and bright, Defending the freedoms that kept wrongs in sight. And while others rested in slumber so deep, The Liberty Justice Center had promises to keep. When out in the courts, there arose such a clatter, The people leaned in—these cases did matter. Parental rights, audits, and workers so bold— Their stories for justice were ready to be told. First Chino v. Newsom lit up the fight’s way, For parents whose voices were kept far at bay. “We will stand for the families,” the lawyers proclaimed, “Parental choice matters—our rights are the same!” Onward they marched, with truth as their guide, For parents who’d long been denied and defied. The halls of the courtroom echoed their plea: “Our children, our rights, let parents be free!” Then Weiss v. CTU came quick to the fore, Where teachers sought answers behind union doors. “Let audits bring light!” they courageously cried, “To show where the dues and the dollars reside.” Transparency matters; no shadow should reign, For teachers who pay must see what’s gained. The Liberty team, steadfast and wise, Demanded the truth—no more compromise. But the case of great legend, the one to recall, Was Janus v. AFSCME, the fight heard by all. A worker declared, “Let me choose my own way! No union shall force me to fund or obey.” The court stood with Janus—so workers are free, To leave unions behind, should they so decree. The Liberty Justice Center secured this great right, For workers to speak, unshackled and bright. Now, lawyers exclaimed as the night drew to close, With fire in their hearts and a mission that grows: “To parents, to teachers, to workers alike, We fight for your freedoms, through day and through night. From Newsom to CTU, from Janus to new strife, We’ll safeguard your liberty—your family, your life. Let justice roll forth, and freedom take flight, Merry Liberty to all, and to all a free night!”

Liberty Justice Center filed its lawsuit against Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) in October. This week seven more of the CTU members are joining our effort to get the union to release its financial audits from the past 4 years—why are the union bosses are resisting their own bylaws? And, on Federal filings, CTU certified that they have completed an audit. So either they lied to the Feds (shocker) or they just want lose in court to us (again).

Nice try UA Local 9 ?? when Mr. Giangrasso learned about his rights under?Janus v. AFSCME, he sent a letter to UA Local 9 resigning his union membership and requesting an end to the dues deduction. The union refused, claiming that the?Janus?decision didn’t apply to Mr. Giangrasso because the union called the money deducted from his paychecks “assessments” rather than “dues.” He then called us for help. Liberty Justice Center +1 -- UA Local 9, ZERO (actually, our 7th win this year but who's counting) https://lnkd.in/gazbXyEq

Sometimes I get excited when people say bad things about our work at Liberty Justice Center. And when Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) calls us a “Powerful Enemy” it makes me proud of the work our team does. 3 weeks ago we filed a lawsuit against CTU asking for them to produce their audit for the past 4 years. I thought this could have been our shortest case ever, but 3 weeks later: — no audits —no reasons —retaliation against their own union members who dared to ask for transparency —LJC is a ‘Powerful Enemy’ Yes we are.

Oops Mayor Johnson does it again….. The newly appointed Chicago School Board President has been permanently disbarred in Ohio, delinquent on child support, has a lien from unpaid water bills (but frankly so does the mayor and head of CTU) and now this: “The Nazi Germans’ ideology has been adopted by the Zionist Jews,” Johnson wrote in February. “The Israeli government offers a renewal of Nazi language once directed toward European Jews, ‘savages, dogs, vermin,’” he wrote in March. Why isn’t this headline news!!! #nowords
