Positioned just 30 minutes from the Port of Savannah, Liberty County is ideal for industries looking to access global markets.
In its busiest February on record, the Georgia Ports Authority moved 479,850 twenty-foot equivalent container units, a 6% increase over the same month last year. GPA set a new rail record of 2,246 rail lifts on February 28, and a new truck gate record of 78,950 transactions during the last week of February. Truckers average 35-minute turn times for single moves, and 54 minutes for dual moves. “This strong performance is a testament to the trust our customers place in the Port of Savannah as their?gateway to the U.S.?Southeast,†said GPA President and CEO Griff Lynch. Yesterday, we hosted the annual Economic Development for Educators program. Local Liberty County educators visited LCDA, toured industrial parks, and learned firsthand about the exciting work being done in economic development! The session offered a behind-the-scenes look at how local/global industry leader SNF Holding Company is impacting our community's growth and provided valuable insights from Georgia Power Economic Development that educators can bring back to the classroom. This collaboration bridges the gap between education and economic development, helping inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators! Special thanks to the Liberty County School System and the Liberty Chamber of Commerce for partnering to make this special day a reality!
