Today we pause to honor and remember those we lost on September 11, 2001, including the first responders who exhibited extraordinary courage in the face of danger and chaos.

We are celebrating 3 new approved state charter schools for Georgia after yesterday's SCSC meeting! Dominion Purpose Academy will be Columbus's first charter school, after years of community engagement & intentional school design. Liberty Classical Schools is responding to strong demand (over 3,300 on waiting lists at their other schools!) to open schools in Fayette & Cherokee Counties. Congratulations to Dr. LaTasha Jones Adams and Matthew Stone, PhD and Matthew Kirby, for their vision, hard work, and perserverance with their teams! I am also celebrating strong collaborative relationships with exceptional colleagues and charter school champions. You are proving that providing coordinated support for new and growing schools and networks makes all the difference. Thank you Christa Thomas (and Georgia Charter Schools Association), Steven Quinn, Kelly Cadman, Bill Durbin (and the Bellwether team), Cameron Quick and Jeffrey Houser! It is a privilege and joy to serve alongside you. Liberty CEO Matthew Kirby spoke to the Northwest Classical Academy faculty and staff before the new school year begins on Aug 1. Mr. Kirby thanked them for their important work in training the minds and strengthening the hearts of their students.
