Monday was the first day of her junior year. It was also the first time that I haven’t taken her to school.
She just learned to walk.
She just learned to climb the stairs.
She just learned to ride a bike.
Now she’s driving??!!!
Where did the time go?
As I watched her drive away, I took in a deep breath letting it all settle in.
I felt many things in that moment, one emotion was fear. But I chose not to give in…completely.
So, rather than BEG God to protect her. I THANKED God for her protection.
That was Monday. Today is Wednesday.
Today, I realize that I have more time. As she is becoming more independent, I have
More time to pray
More time to work out
More time for self- care
More time to plan my next move
More time to operate in Johnette 2.0.
More time to deliver these other babies (next book(s), trainings, speaking platform, etc)
The point is, change is a guarantee. Don’t lament over it; optimize it!
If you are a mother this message may resonate with you the most.
We give all that we have to our children. When they grow up we can experience a sense of loss, confusion, distress, and unimportance.
It can take a minute to figure out who we are beyond being “mom.”
The good news is you (we) WILL get through this season. Just like we have successfully navigated through other challenging seasons.
The great news is, you have more time to be all that you can be and I can help.
If you need support with embracing the independence of your children AND you want to use this time to reinvent yourself, I invite you schedule a free introductory call with me to explore a new and exciting chapter of your life.
