That’s the approach Thomas Wei embraces as purchasing manager for Libbey's APAC region, where he works with retailers and wholesalers to negotiate the best prices on products and materials for the company. “Keeping results as the goal will help you place an emphasis on your role’s strategic value and your team’s performance and impact,” he says. His role, which he has held since October 2023, is essential in keeping Libbey’s day-to-day business moving at an efficient pace – and it’s one that is significantly driven by cross-functional synergy. Thomas strives to be the best team player through quick response times and active collaboration and sees empathy as key in avoiding conflict. “Believe everyone around you would like to be a good partner,” he says. We had the very best time at The University of Toledo’s Rockets Rise event! We were impressed by the talented collegiate athletes who spent there time learning about incredible internship and career oportunities at some of the BEST employers in the region!! It was highly engaging to share our love of Libbey with them! I personally appreciated watching their eyes light up when I was able to share that THE Glass City got its name from Libbey- when we moved our company to Toledo in 1888!! Founded in 1818, and as a proud glass manufacturer in the United States, we were able to share our 207 years of heritage with the next generation of phenomenal leaders!! Thanks, Rockets!! ?? If Deborah Murua had a superhero name, it might be “The Brand Protector.” As senior paralegal for Libbey, Deb wields her legal know-how to uphold Libbey’s reputation and protect our treasured trademarks, trade secrets and patents. She also protects the company and its interests through her work in product liability and corporate governance, where she ensures that all Makers comply with our legal and ethical standards. Deb’s background as a paralegal may have qualified her for the job, but her passion for glassmaking (she’s taken classes at the Toledo Museum of Art) is what prompted her to apply. “I am passionate about glass and love learning about glass while using my technical paralegal skills to assist our business groups,” she says. “It’s a fantastic and rewarding combination for me.” Deb’s role at Libbey has also given her the opportunity to give back to the Toledo community. She’s represented Libbey at Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc's Driver’s License Reinstatement Clinic and volunteered with the Aurora Project at a Toledo Mud Hens baseball game.
