In January 2020, Worley Highway District (WHD) applied for the Local Highway Safety Improvement Program (LHSIP) funding to improve curve conditions and install guardrail along a section of Greensferry Road?after a fatal motorcycle crash in 2019. The submitted application was approved by the LHTAC Council in March 2021, and WHD successfully secured LHSIP funding to improve the roadway. In the?Fall of 2022, J-U-B Engineers Inc. was selected to deliver the project. Through the first phase of the design development contract for the project, LHTAC worked with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) to develop?additive bidding documents and pilot this type of bidding for the project. The second contract phase includes adding options for bidding on nearly all the work originally planned. The intent is to allow WHD to complete all the improvements envisioned with the application. Even if project funding limitations only allow for awards of a few of the options, WHD has the complete design. This will allow them to explore other options to complete all the proposed improvements. Congratulations to all for the effort and hard work put into this project!?
