As #Colombia faces the largest migration crisis in the Western Hemisphere, USAID’s LHSS Project is strengthening #HealthSystems to save lives. Through the Mentor Hospital strategy, LHSS is equipping health care providers with the skills and tools needed to manage high-risk maternal and newborn cases. In #Cali, maternal mortality dropped by 66%, and zero maternal deaths have been reported in Buenaventura since the initiative began. In 2023 alone, 49,000 pregnant migrant women accessed care through participating hospitals. This collaboration with local partners is a powerful example of how building health care capacity can address #GlobalHealth challenges and migration crises.
