A Long-Awaited Honor: Richard Cravener Sr. Officially Becomes an Eagle Scout! ?? After 64 years, Richard Cravener Sr. is finally receiving the recognition he earned back in 1961 as a 16-year-old Scout. When his troop disbanded, life took him in a different direction—but he never let go of his Scouting journey, holding onto his merit badges and rank patches for decades. Recently, while reminiscing with his grandsons—one an Eagle Scout and the other an aspiring Star Scout—his family discovered he had fulfilled all the requirements for Eagle. With confirmation from Laurel Highlands Council and Scouting America National, Richard Sr. has officially been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, retroactive to November 1, 1961. ?? Earlier today, we kicked off our 115th birthday in a big way – LIVE on Good Morning America. Joined by local #Scouts, President and Chief Executive Officer of Scouting America, Roger Krone, spoke about how #Scouting fosters resilience, leadership and service to prepare America’s youth for the challenges of tomorrow. From Eagle Scouts leading industries to Cub Scouts discovering adventure for the first time, Scouting America remains a cornerstone of character development.
