This sums up some of the advantages of renting nicely. If I had a nickel for every time we get asked to buy used equipment because a company “bought it for one job and now it’s taking up space”…

My family and I are currently saving up to purchase a home. In the mean time, we’re staying with parents. While we definitely have a large amount of toys on hand, about 75% of our belongings (furniture, old clothes, things we don’t need on a daily basis, etc.) are all in a storage unit. I must admit, I did get a great deal on a climate controlled unit at a very safe and secure location with great management/ownership . HOWEVER…I HATE having to pay to store my stuff. I’m literally throwing money away every month to borrow a little 10x20 air conditioned garage unit. I love knowing that I’ve got all of this stuff for when I need it down the road, but man-what a drag! And don’t even mention the fact that I’ve seen storage complexes burn down over the years, so of course I’m carrying some insurance on it all as well! Lesson: keeping stuff stored away on a shelf just because you MIGHT need it one day, just isn’t worth the cost. Application: don’t pay to store, insure, and maintain equipment you don’t use very often. Rent LGH.
