    Concluding the Year with Political Awareness, Diligence, Love & Reverence for lost Trans Lives Saturday November 16, 2024 5-7pm Reception 7-8:30pm Durham City Hall 101 City Hall Plaza Durham, NC 27701 Come Memorialize our Fallen Trans lives at the hands of violence in the past year. For this remembrance we gather to bear witness to possibility models of potential and prosperity through the lives of our local Queer and Trans Community. We will be lead into the service by Project FAM Co-Director Vanity Deterville, with remarks from Rev. Jacqueline Brett and Rev. Jim Lewis, Lead Queer Ministers of Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship(ERUUF), and featured community responses from Kaliq Alexander, Kalunga Ocean Coaxum, Sunny Grant, Dawn Pressley and Adrian Williams. A reception following the event will be provided by Duke University Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity. This event is a collaborative effort between Project FAM at The LGBTQ Center of Durham, the Equal Employment Opportunity and Protection Office within the Human Relations Division of City of Durham, Blue Water Spa of Raleigh, Duke CSGD, Orange County Rape Crisis Center and Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (ERUUF).     LGBTQ Legal Clinic Saturday November 9 10:30-4:30PM Durham Public Library, downtown Meet one-on-one with volunteer law students and attorneys from NCCU School of Law and learn about the process of changing your name and gender marker in North Carolina! During the clinic, volunteer attorneys and law students will be providing you with legal information about the name change process in North Carolina, help with putting together a plan for you to file for your own name change, and assistance with filling out the forms, if desired. Co-sponsored by the LGBTQ Center of Durham Name Change Navigation. We cover: - All counties - All ages - Name and/or gender markers - Social Security - US Passport - NC birth certificate - DIY fingerprints and more! There will be a notary on-site! Registration encouraged but not required. Walk-ins welcome. Please check in for your appointment on the 3rd floor of the Durham County Main Library in the Computer Lab. There will be staff and signage to help you. Please keep in mind that parking can sometimes be difficult at Main Library so give yourself extra time if you are traveling by car. This is an open, all-ages event with a dedicated space for children, and we'll have free dinner, coffee, and tea available. Come as you are — no pressure, no expectations.
