If you own a business, make sure your 2024 bookkeeping is completed. 2?? Gather all your tax documents and send them to your tax accountant. 3?? If you pay estimated taxes, mark your calendar so you don't forget to pay those along with any taxes due on April 15th. 4?? Don't forget about state tax deadlines too! Here are the most common reasons I see a taxpayer extend their tax return: → Waiting on tax documents. If you have investments that will issue a K-1, it's very likely you'll need to extend! → Big changes in their tax situation. If you started a new business, made a lot of new investments, or even just changed your filing status, you may not want to rush filing! → Too busy to file! Things happen in life, and a big reason to extend filing your return is because you have an emergency to deal with during the spring tax season. → Procrastination. This is what you've earned on a pre-tax basis. Congrats! CHECK OUT YOUR CASH FLOW Regardless of whether or not you receive a cash flow statement, you'll want to look at the cash balance shown on your balance sheet and see how that's changed month-over-month. If your cash balance is significantly up or down, do you know why?
