??Great things in the making! ?? ??Advancing the circular economy is one of Lexmark’s missions. For that, we’re teaming up – as the exclusive partner of the print industry - with other companies and stakeholders from all over Europe in two EU-funded projects, called DiCiM Project and CE-RISE Project.???? This week, we were proud hosts to the DiCiM bi-annual General Assembly in our Lexmark Budapest office for an intense and engaging two-day power sessions. The project's quest is to accelerate circular economy business models by the power of digitization, such as: ?? The Internet of Things (IoT) ?? Machine Learning (ML) ?? Artificial Intelligence (AI) ?? Big Data ?? Augmented Reality (AR) The ultimate goal is to create an Open Access Digital Platform (OADP), that will be open to a larger audience, such as OEMs, remanufacturers and users, facilitating the return, repair and remanufacturing of electronic goods. This will help save raw material. While this goal will present a major leap in terms of advancing the circular economy for companies and customers alike, many granular steps are required for this.??The latter are being taken, during a four-year long period, by experts and engineers with a deep knowledge of their products and the digital solutions in question, working meticulously in the background.?? ?? Exciting times at Field Service Connect 2024 in Austin, Texas! ?? The Lexmark team was on site at last week's field service conference to share how our Connected Products solutions and Optra technology can drive business outcomes for our customers. This year's theme, "Revolutionizing Service Through Innovation and the Human Touch," really resonated with our mission. With senior-level service executives from various industries in attendance, the event was a fantastic opportunity to connect and collaborate. On Tuesday, Lexmark IoT portfolio director Demetrios Karathanasis delivered a keynote address, "Shifting from Defense to Offense: Unlocking Service Innovation and Revenue Growth," which highlighted Lexmark's own service journey. We also brought a taste of Kentucky to Austin with a signature bourbon tasting event, giving select attendees a unique Bluegrass experience. ?? This year, we've also attended Field Service Medical, Field Service Palm Springs and Field Service Orlando. Frankfurt – Budapest – Paris – London. It was a high-energy week for our Lexmark Europe offices as our EMEA Managing Directors Michael Lang, Jean-Michel Sauvaud and Arjan Paulussen as well as Gabriella Fodor, who was covered by Cecília Balogh, welcomed our CEO, Allen Waugerman to their respective offices. Lexmark EMEA Vice President Thomas Valjak and EMEA Sales Vice President Danny Molhoek accompanied Allen on his whirlwind tour. During town halls and smaller roundtables, Allen emphasized the great importance of the EMEA market to our business and gave our EMEA employees and managers ample opportunity to ask questions and discuss our strategy moving forward. ??? Lexmark takes security very seriously. That’s why we participate in events like the recent 2024 #Pwn2Own competition, from Trend Micro Zero Day Initiative, in Cork, Ireland, where we offered up our devices for “white hat” hackers to try to infiltrate. Yes, you read that correctly. We wanted our printers and MFPs to get hacked. ? Why? Pwn2Own allows top security researchers to test our devices, helping us improve their security. One of Lexmark’s security experts, Sean Gibbons, was on the ground, learning from hackers and other participants, all with the goal of gaining valuable insights to enhance our protections. Those insights help us immediately remediate any vulnerabilities that are uncovered. We then communicate that directly to our customers at the Lexmark Security Advisories site. ?? Sustainability has long been a core pillar of Lexmark’s strategy, and a key architect of that pillar has been John D. Gagel, our chief sustainability officer. With profound sadness we share that John died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday. John leaves behind a beautiful family, friends far and wide, a global community of colleagues who were fortunate to work with him, and a sterling legacy in an industry where he truly excelled. A 25-year Lexmarker and former science teacher, John brought his educational background to his approach to work. He was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about sustainability, and driven to make a difference. Yet what many who knew him recall most is that despite his expertise and achievements, he remained humble and humane. Thanks to John and his team, Lexmark’s sustainability program is award-winning, innovative and always going one step further than is required.
