Lexington is located in the center of Rockbridge County in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. It is home to Virginia Military Institute and Washington and Lee University, which contribute a high level of cultural activity in the community. The City has been ranked by numerous organizations as one of the most livable and safest cities in the Commonwealth. Throughout our history, the men and women of the department have proudly served their community. The Department has an authorized strength of 18 sworn police officers and 4 civilian support personnel. We operate using core tenets of community policing.
