Ghostwriter & content strategist helping founders & executives build industry visibility and credibility. Prev: comms hire #1 at Ultra Safe Nuclear.
If I had to start over from scratch, I’d do exactly what I’m doing now: ghostwriting for business owners with real products and real business models. Why? Because writing lets me do more with fewer requirements than anything else I could possibly do. The content I write gets attention for my clients. That attention turns into revenue, partnerships, or opportunities, which makes what they pay me feel like a no-brainer, whether they're giving me $2000/mo for ongoing work or $10k for a top-to-bottom overhaul to make the most of something gigantic that already exists whole or in part. But honestly, the real reason I love it is because it feeds my curiosity. I get to talk to brilliant, interesting people who are building things I’d never dream of on my own. Then I turn those conversations into something useful for them. I love writing, but I'm not happy with what I write unless it's practical, too. Writing for other people is also incredibly flexible. If I want to travel somewhere, create my own products, or dig into some new skill set (as I often do), my ghostwriting work gives me the breathing room to do it without freaking out about paying the bills. It’s hard to beat that kind of flexibility. If you're starting over, or thinking about changing your career path, or just feeling kind of lost, my best advice is reallyreallyreallyreally simple: Focus on work that creates value for other people by connecting them with each other; that makes you want to show up every day; and that leaves you room in your life to live your life.
