The only thing glitching out here is Gabriel Stiritz, but To Err Is Human, amirite?! Seriously, though, these tiny little computers in our pockets have become an extension of our bodies. So, meet your clients where they are–on their phones!--to get the ball rolling on their personal injury claims.? Clients want to interface with their lawyers, with their medical providers, the same way they do everyone else. Blink rapidly if you agree… ( ?? TEN YEARS in the making.? That’s right. Free Law Project’s team has devoted 10 years to building an open source law database, inputting decades–if not centuries–of data, in order to make tomorrow easier for YOU and anyone else trying to navigate the legal landscape. Your attorneys, paralegals, law clerks, and admins all have way more important things to do than scouring law libraries and ECF systems to find relevant case law or to collect and maintain the case filings on every.single.one. of your cases. What could they do with more time on their hands to do higher level tasks? Whatever it is, it'll probably make you more likely to win… we’d say that’s a pretty good guess. ?? Key Insights on Cybersecurity 101 for Law Firms?? In our latest podcast episode of The Relay, we sat down with J. Foster Davis, Founder of BreachBits, to discuss cybersecurity and what that could mean for your firm, including these concepts: ?? Red Teaming: The best way to know how secure your firm is against a data breach is to bring in the Red Team, the good guy hackers, for a bit of scrimmage, i.e., to test their ability to gain access. ?? Risk Added in PI: The data collected and stored by your Personal Injury law? firm is more valuable than what may be present in firms that try other types of cases. Your data usually always includes PPI (Personal Identifying Information) and PHI (Protected Health Information). A breach of this type of data is what lawsuits are made of. ?? Prevalence vs. Liability: Clients, patients, consumers–we’ve all had these types of relationships. Maybe you’re cynical and think that everybody’s information is already out there anyhow, so why bother? Because that’s no defense. If your client’s data is breached, you are still liable for their lifetime risk. ?? Big Results: Firms on Lexamica have made up to $100,000 per month by sending out unwanted claims! ??? New Podcast Episode Alert! ??? In our latest episode of The Relay, Gabriel Stiritz sits down with J. Foster Davis, founder of BreachBits, to talk about cybersecurity. We all know lawyers can pride themselves a bit on their intellect when it comes to understanding the law, but that does not mean we all ‘get’ all this new fangled IT stuff, no less the depths of hell that is cybersecurity. Thank goodness we’ve got people for that, right? If you answered no, then your firm may be at risk. We know the thought can be intimidating, but don’t worry! J. Foster Davis was kind enough to dumb it down for us a bit! Here are some key takeaways: ? There has been a 1000% increase in data breaches this year. (That is NOT a typo.) ? Spending on security is a form of insurance (but you should still totally get actual liability insurance, too!) ?? Security is a continuous process, not a one-time fix. ? Penetration testing helps identify vulnerabilities and hiring professionals can improve security posture. ? Understanding cybersecurity is crucial for business owners. Know your risk profile and compliance requirements. Implement best practices. If your firm needs to scrutinize its data security (IT DOES. Like, Always. Period.), you really can’t afford to miss this podcast. ?? START HERE ?? https://hubs.ly/Q02STqzv0

Did you know that the legal profession has a generally untrustworthy perception? We're not talking about in the sense of lawyer jokes. (Though, you really should check out Filevine's Ultimate List of Lawyer Jokes. Number 1 especially hits home! ??) According to IPSOS’s Global Trustworthiness Index 2021, nearly just as many U.S. survey respondents found lawyers untrustworthy (28%) ?? as found lawyers trustworthy (29%).??? Yikes!?Neither are great margins. You know who we blame?? Defense Attorneys! Specifically, personal injury defense attorneys. lol. J/k. (?? Who said that? ?? ??) ??Wellll, kinda. (??♀?) They *are* the guys working for the big insurance providers and fighting to keep money out of the little guy’s pocket. It is literally their job to get as small of a settlement for their client as possible, which means less money for your client, the injured party. ?????? We know they are going to prey on every angle possible to weaken your client’s claims, which somehow feels anti-justice despite knowing that even big insurance companies deserve a good defense. And we know ?? YOU ?? know that some standard ways they go about negating the gravity of your client’s claims are by: Targeting gaps in treatment?and citing insufficient treatment documentation. Telemedicine can help with that. You can get your client in touch with a telemedicine provider ???? the SAME day that they reach out to your firm about their claims, providing your client with more immediate relief while they wait to be seen in-person. This is good for your client for that reason, but also because your client will feel more seen, heard, and cared for knowing that your firm has taken their claims seriously and expedited their access to care. ?? That smells like client retention to us.??? ?? Plus, you can start building the documentation surrounding your client’s claims immediately by utilizing Telemedicine at the onset of a case. ??? Injury Rx allows your firm to access detailed visit summaries and doctor's notes, lab results and specialist referrals in real time through cloud-based technology and through existing CRM integrations, with more integrations on the way. And don’t be shy! Continue utilizing telemedicine throughout your client’s case to supplement any long gaps between appointments with their primary care providers or to address any access issues your client may have in seeing their primary providers in-person as regularly as their medical needs necessitate and as often as is beneficial for their claims! Plaintiff’s attorneys have a hard enough battle in court, proving their client’s claims, but they also have a hard battle in the court of public opinion due to the less than favorable perception attributed to the profession.? Every little bit you are able to combat that perception within your clients' experiences counts. Check out the?full discussion on this topic in The Relay, Episode 7: Telemedicine in PI. https://hubs.ly/Q02STqzv0
