Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s mission is education and our passion is connecting people and plants to improve communities. Our goal is to extend beyond traditional boundaries to have a positive impact and to enrich lives. The Garden is growing fresh produce for the hungry; actively participating in urban greening and water management initiatives; contributing to economic development and work-force training; and educating diverse youth and adult audiences about critical issues related to the interdependence of plants and people. Our Mission affirms the Garden as a primary resource for learning about the botanical world—its beauty, heritage, and significance to the web of life. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden connects people through plants to improve communities. Our Vision builds upon our accomplishments and expanded presence and responsibility as we have transformed from a local attraction to a national place of excellence. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, including the new Lewis Ginter Nature Reserve, reveals the unity and integration of human and plant life, celebrates the fundamental significance of the natural world, and enriches communities through horticultural and educational excellence and innovative outreach initiatives.

Late last month I traveled to Richmond, VA for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of MSA - Museum Store Association’s Annual Fall Meeting. Hosted expertly by Michael Guajardo and his team at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts it was a weekend full of networking, learning, exploring and shopping! Always a pleasure to reconnect with friends and make new connections. Thank you to Allison P. Wolf for your leadership in sphereheading the festivities and all of our fantastic attendees, collaborators, volunteers, and sponsors for contributing to a memorable meeting! Meet Mir Moyer! They started at the Garden as a Guest Services Associate in May 2023 and transitioned to the Exhibitions department to become the Exhibits and Programming Coordinator in June 2024! In their current role, they help coordinate arts-focused events and gallery shows to promote the arts within the garden. They're passionate about creating new events that welcome under-served communities into our space. Two upcoming events they're especially excited to work on are Diwali on Saturday, October 26, and GardenInk – Celebrate Botanical Tattoos! on Saturday, February 8, 2025. They graduated from William & Mary in 2021 and enjoy exploring their new home in Richmond, VA by becoming immersed in the city’s vibrant arts and culture scene.
