关于我们
The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College is an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank that seeks to broaden the policy debate on economic issues that profoundly influence quality of life. Our research spans topics ranging from financial stability to job creation to social inclusion and sustainable growth—goals that require new economic policies driven by informed discourse and a range of expert opinion. Through its research and analysis, and by bringing together scholars and leaders in the policy and business communities, the Levy Institute aims to put forward innovative proposals that address current as well as emerging economic policy issues, both within and outside the United States. Together with Bard College, the Levy Institute also offers the Master of Science in Economic Theory and Policy, a unique two-year degree program designed to meet the preprofessional needs of undergraduates in economics and related fields. With a curriculum built on the groundbreaking policy work of economists Hyman Minsky and Wynne Godley, the Levy MS program emphasizes theoretical and empirical aspects of policy analysis through specialization in one of five key research areas: macroeconomic theory, policy, and modeling; monetary policy and financial structure; distribution of income, wealth, and well-being; gender equality and time poverty; and employment and labor markets. "Structural economic issues and insecurity still shape voters’ lives and continue to shape every dimension of politics. For those of us reading the economic tea leaves pointing to economic insecurity, the ballot measures corroborated the anxieties voters feel about their standard of living.” Read the latest Levy Institute Policy Note from Pavlina Tcherneva now: https://lnkd.in/ePuaxc7f

It is an absolute honor to coauthor this working paper with MMT legend, Professor L. Randall Wray, who worked tirelessly to advance the public's understanding of modern financial and monetary frameworks. I also extend my deepest gratitude to the Levy Economics Institute for supporting this paper and for its commitment to promoting heterodox economics, shedding light on pressing economic issues where mainstream theory falls short. Curious about the "Japanese Enigma" -- how Japan remains stuck in a low-growth, low-inflation cycle? Or want to learn about the Wray Curve? Give this paper a read ?? and see if it sparks your interest!
Just released, this paper from L. Randall Wray and Eric Lin looks at the relationship between government budget deficits and the growth rate of GDP by exploring the nuanced approach given by Modern Money Theory. Read now: https://lnkd.in/eQ2JsNJG

How can we tackle structural unemployment in the EU and create employment that reflects society’s needs? These questions will be discussed, symbolically, on Monday, October 7, the World Day for Decent Work, at a joint conference of the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) and the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), which will be held in Bratislava. ???? Slovenská verzia ?? Taking place at the European Labour Authority (ELA), the conference will focus on the proposed European Job Guarantee programme, which aims to address unemployment and foster social progress by creating high-quality, sustainable jobs across diverse sectors. The event will explore the crucial role of social partners in ensuring the programme's effectiveness and its positive impact on workers' rights and well-being. Following opening remarks by Tea Jarc (Confederal Secretary, ETUC), Bart Vanhercke (Research Director, ETUI), Cosmin Boiangiu (Executive Director, ELA), and Monika Uhlerová (President of KOZ SR), the keynote address, titled “What does an EU Job Guarantee look like?”, will be delivered by Rania Antonopoulos, Senior Scholar at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College. Subsequently, the discussion on “Reflecting on national Job Guarantees: What challenges and opportunities?” will feature Lukas Lehner (The University of Edinburgh), Tom Bevers (FPS Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue, Belgium), andrea ciarini (Sapienza Università di Roma), Cecilia Fracassa (Sapienza University of Rome), Ioannis Theocharis (EU Job Guarantee Coalition), and Sébastien Turcat (Territoires zéro ch?meur de longue durée - TZCLD). Closing remarks will be delivered by Tea Jarc and Bart Vanhercke. We look forward to sharing this memorable experience. Stay tuned for more insights and reflections on the outcomes of the conference! #WorldDayForDecentWork #JobGuarantee #JobGuaranteeProgramme #Unemployment --- Ako m??eme rie?i?
