A simple change to your mindset when it comes to building your wealth and tracking your net worth can pay huge dividends. What's that change? Thinking about your wealth in ranges. As your wealth and investment portfolios grow, you will experience bigger and bigger swings as the stock market fluctuates with everyday news and headlines. Seeing your wealth move within ranges is normal, however, and even healthy for a stock market-driven portfolio. By staying focused on your long-term goals, you can confidently ride out the waves, knowing that the market historically has rewarded patience and discipline with growth over time. #investing #financialadvisor #investor #saver #volatility #wealth

Many people assume that mortgage rates will come down. But recently, rates have started to climb higher. So what if mortgage rates don't go down as many expect? What could this do to the housing market, new buyers, and buyers who bought in the past two years and planned to refinance at lower rates? How should one best prepare for the potential for mortgage rates not going down meaningfully??

Mortgage rates have been coming down and we've been getting a lot of questions about homebuying lately. Budgeting for a new house can be a complex process, but breaking it down into manageable steps can make it more straightforward. By assessing your current finances, planning for upfront costs, and ensuring long-term affordability, you can create a solid plan for purchasing your new home. Here are 3 ways to budget for a new house.

Five basic personal finance areas that, when managed well and consistently, can help someone achieve wealth are: 1. Budgeting Why it matters: Budgeting helps you track income and expenses, giving you control over where your money goes. It enables you to live within your means, avoid debt, and allocate money toward savings and investments. Action steps: Create a budget that reflects your priorities. Automate savings and reduce unnecessary spending. Review and adjust monthly. Reach out for our free monthly budget Excel file! 2. Saving and Emergency Fund Why it matters: Having a solid emergency fund helps you weather financial storms without going into debt. Regular saving builds the foundation for future investments and financial security. Action steps: Aim to save at least 3-6 months’ worth of living expenses in a liquid, accessible account. Prioritize saving a portion of your income consistently. Once your emergency fund is adequate, you can likely begin taking on more investment risk with additional savings. 3. Debt Management Why it matters: High-interest debt (especially credit card debt) can prevent wealth accumulation. Managing and eliminating debt frees up money for savings and investment. Action steps: Focus on paying off high-interest debts first. Consider debt consolidation if it helps reduce interest payments. Avoid new debt unless it’s strategic (e.g., low-interest mortgage, zero-interest credit cards, or student loans). 4. Investing Why it matters: Saving alone isn’t enough to build wealth due to inflation. Investing allows your money to grow over time and helps you build long-term wealth. Action steps: Start investing early, focusing on low-cost, diversified assets like index funds. Take advantage of tax-advantaged accounts like 401(k)s or Roth IRAs, and be consistent with contributions. 5. Financial Goal Setting and Planning Why it matters: Setting clear financial goals (both short-term and long-term) provides direction and motivation. A financial plan ensures your actions align with your wealth-building goals. Action steps: Define your goals (e.g., buying a home, children's college, retirement). Break them down into achievable milestones, and regularly review progress. Adjust your plan based on changes in your income, expenses, or life situation. Relentless focus on these areas, combined with good financial discipline, can significantly improve the chances of achieving financial independence and wealth. It's that easy, and that hard! If you need help nailing down a simple financial plan that allows you to leverage the basics, please reach out!

There's something about turning 40. That seems to be the time many of our clients reach out to us to get their financial house in order. Suddenly they're halfway into their careers and halfway towards retirement. They've been doing ok saving, but haven't logged into their 401K in a few years. They have some real assets, but no will, power of attorney, or health care directives in place. They have a Roth IRA but don't fully understand its incredible tax benefits or why they opened it in the first place. They have a good job but don't necessarily love it and want to see if they have enough financial security to make a switch and do something they're more passionate about. There's something about 40, and we love discussing it all. If this sounds like you, feel free to reach out and talk about your financial future. We aim to be the Financial Advisor for hotel Executive Committee members and managers. We work with high-level hotel managers from some of the most well-respected hotel companies in the world. Why do we love working with "hotel people"? Because they are some of the most humble, hardworking, and appreciative people on the planet. Also, they need our help because managers in the hospitality industry often get paid less than their counterparts in other industries. Since they get paid less, and often don't receive stock options or meaningful 401K matches, they need to do more on their own to save for retirement, their children's educations, and build their wealth. To learn more about how we help hospitality industry professionals, please reach out directly to Brian Bond, our founder and former luxury hotel finance director, at [email protected].
