People tend to remember incomplete tasks better than completed ones - that's the Zeigarnik Effect. Here's how you can use it to work smarter this week. Unfinished tasks increase cognitive load and demand more mental resources, creating psychological tension that our minds try to release by keeping the task in focus. If you have an upcoming task that you aren't looking forward to - set a ten minute timer to start. Once you've started the task, your brain will want to finish the task. And likely won't let you forget it until you have. If you have a task that requires more of your focus - clear up some mental space by completing a few smaller tasks before you dive in.
