First, the Northern Explorers will be welcomed to town at the Fresh Coast Quarterly Club on Friday, November 1 for an evening of casual networking. Spend the weekend exploring the area. Then, on Monday, November 4 you will have the opportunity to attend the Annual Economic Summit to meet with 550+ local business leaders, residents and local northern Michiganders. ??Make MI Home application deadline extended!?? The deadline to submit proposals for Make MI Home has been extended to Wednesday, August 14 at 11:59 p.m. At the end of July, Michigan's Growth Office launched Make MI Home, a first-of-its-kind regional pilot program to retain or attract talent in Michigan. As a reminder this program is available to nonprofits, local governments, economic development organizations, philanthropic foundations and talent attraction organizations in Michigan. Last week, we visited Vicksburg, MI as part of our summer roadshow to highlight and amplify ways regions across Michigan are retaining and attracting talent in their communities. Local officials took Chief Growth Officer Hilary Doe on a walking tour to showcase placemaking investments to revitalize their downtown area, making it walkable and rich with amenities such as parks, restaurants and shopping. She also swung by ‘burg days of summer, a family-friendly street festival hosted every Wednesday as a way to bring neighbors together downtown. Talent wants great places, great opportunities and welcoming communities where they choose to call home.
