Creating economic success for underserved and marginalized communities through STEM education and work force development

关于我们

LET'S GO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit devoted to STEM learning and interest throughout youth growth and education development. Our Mission is to create economic success for underserved and marginalized communities through STEM education and workforce development. LET'S GO partners with schools, youth organizations, and other non-profits in historically under-resourced communities to provide STEM learning experiences for youth from elementary school to post-secondary school age. LET'S GO equips administrative staff and instructors to provide STEM learning experiences in their schools and communities. LET'S GO provides workforce development and internship/apprenticeship opportunities for high school and post-secondary school students. Currently, LET'S GO serves three regions: Baltimore City, Anne Arundel County, and Washington, DC. For data evaluation, LET'S GO partners with the Partnerships in Education and Resilience (PEAR), Inc. LET'S GO provides certain students the PEAR student survey once per year and PEAR uses data collected from the survey to produce statistical data. LET'S GO and PEAR also partner for evaluation of instructor survey data. We believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to become actively involved. If you are looking for a fulfilling way to be a part of our efforts, consider making a donation and join our efforts: https://givebutter.com/LETSGO.

Katherine Johnson was a groundbreaking mathematician whose work at NASA helped shape the course of space exploration. Often called one of history's "hidden figures", her contributions were crucial to the success of the early space missions, including John Glenn's orbital flight and the Apollo 11 moon landing. Despite the racial and gender barriers of her time, she excelled in mathematics, earning a degree in 1937 from West Virginia University. She was one of the first African American women to work as a "computer" at NASA, where she calculated flight trajectories, launch windows, and Earth-orbit mechanics, often with nothing more than a pencil and paper. Her most famous achievement? Calculating the flight path for John Glenn’s historic 1962 orbital mission. When Glenn requested that Johnson personally verify the computer-generated numbers before liftoff, her calculations ensured the mission’s success, cementing her legacy in the annals of space history. Katherine’s work not only helped put astronauts into space but also broke barriers for women and people of color in STEM. Her brilliance, perseverance, and dedication continue to inspire generations. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackSTEMPioneers #BHM #STEM #LETSGO
