Please help us welcome Stanford's Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss (SICHL) (part of Stanford University School of Medicine) as a new client! ?? They're on a mission to cure hearing loss and are getting closer every day. Some powerful facts: ?? It is a massive health issue. 1.5 billion people are affected by hearing loss, and nearly half a billion people are disabled by it ?? It affects adults. 1 of 3 US adults between 65 and 74 have hearing loss ?? It affects children. 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss ?? It is a massive economic issue. Hearing loss costs the world nearly one trillion dollars annually ?? It has severe social and mental health implications. Hearing loss leads to social isolation, anxiety, and depression ?? It is only getting worse. Last week, I had a fun task...to explain what marketing is to a 4th-grade class. I wrote about what I said and my insights in our latest newsletter (https://buff.ly/3UFX25V), but here's a sneak peek. ?? 1?? It’s all about storytelling. As marketers, we’re chief storytellers, creating narratives that resonate. In EdTech, it’s about connecting with our audience's real goals and challenges. 2?? Avoid assumptions. Just because you love a campaign doesn’t mean it’ll resonate with others. Talk to your audience, find out what moves them, and center your strategies around that. 3?? Take risks. Bold, creative ideas are what capture attention. It’s much easier to tone down a daring idea than to make a “safe” one stand out. 4?? Your audience is your focus, not leadership. Content aimed at impressing leadership often misses the mark with your actual audience. Growth happens when you put the audience first, test, optimize, and repeat. 5?? Remember the heart. ?? Like teaching, great marketing is about guiding, connecting, and creating meaningful moments.
