Video killed the radio star and social media desensitized us to the images that once held deeper emotional weight. Filmmaker and storyteller, Daniel Sagona, minces no words: nonprofit is not the hero of its own story. In this People of Substance by LemonSkies conversation we dive into the power of video to move and connect audiences. Daniel shares insights on how to effectively build a narrative and tell stories authentically and ethically. Don’t miss the full conversation—tune in Friday, March 21 at 10 am ET. Watch it right here! Olga Moshinsky Woltman, MS

Over the moon to welcome Lonnie Snyder to People of Substance by LemonSkies. Lonnie is a tech leader, remarkable human, and a friend. We met while working at Special Olympics, and now he’s leading technology for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis (save the date!). But his story goes beyond tech. A single moment at a Special Olympics event changed everything. He and his wife, Michelle, were preparing for an empty nest when Lonnie heard a story that stopped him in his tracks. He walked out of that room knowing they were meant to adopt. That decision changed their lives—and the lives of Miles, Magnolia, and Maddie. This one will move you. Massive thanks to our friends at Nuclavis for supporting this episode. Traditional peer-to-peer fundraising platforms can fall short in mobile engagement and that’s where Nuclavis steps in, adding that additional layer that helps nonprofits engage participants to raise more money for great causes. Thank you for your support! Kathy Kempff ?? Olga Moshinsky Woltman, MS

How do you keep up with trends? Staying on top of all the developments and trends can be overwhelming. Adva Priso from Moore is one of the smartest people in the biz and Olga Moshinsky Woltman, MS jumped at the opportunity to ask her this question. Turns out, it takes a village or at least a very active chat channels with smart curious people. Have a listen and share yours (wrong answers only). The rest of the People of Substance by LemonSkies conversation will be streamed on Friday, Feb 7 right here at 10 am ET.

A conversation EVERY nonprofit organization could use about innovation and sustainer giving. So excited for you to hear Dave Raley's take. Plus we'll chat about his book that is coming out on Feb 4, The Rise of Sustainable Giving, but you can pre-read a chapter and pre-order here https://lnkd.in/gsnfdfj9. Enjoy! @OlgaWoltman

What are three types of nonprofits...? Read on, grasshopper. Quick intro first. Dave Raley and I have been one degree of separation for years until my fairy godmother, Andrew Olsen, introduced us and that led to a People of Substance by LemonSkies chat - this Friday, January 24 at 10 am ET, streamed right here. Dave is all in on sustainer giving and he wrote a book about it, The Rise of Sustainable Giving - it comes out Feb 4 but you can pre-read a chapter and pre-order here https://lnkd.in/gsnfdfj9. As relates to sustaining giving, Dave defines three main types of nonprofits (there are more nuances but for simplicity he went with three here). 1) orgs that offer one-to-one relationship to sustaining donors, think child sponsorships. 2) membership organizations that provide tangible benefits and access 3) everyone else It's that everyone else that really needs to crack the nut of sustainable giving. Enjoy and tune us in on Friday. Olga Moshinsky Woltman, MS

Do you know how I met Emily? She commented on a post I wrote about nonprofit work and it became clear, we should get to know each other. This week on People of Substance by LemonSkies: conversation with Emily Teixeira, Executive Director at Politisit, like Politics + Babysit - no, they don't babysit politicians, they provide childcare to encourage civic participation. Cool, right? Topics we cover... Emily's journey from defense to yoga and nonprofit space, return on mission, and more! Enjoy.
