America was built on the back of small business. Entrepreneurs take risks believing they can realize their dream if they work hard, take responsibility and act as good stewards of their resources. Today’s youth share that optimism, but lack the life skills, mentorship and real-world experience necessary to be successful. In 2007, founder Michael Holthouse had a vision to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs through helping them start, own and operate their very own business…a lemonade stand. Lemonade Day is a strategic lesson-based program that walks youth from a dream to a business plan, while teaching them the same principles required to start any big company. Inspiring kids to work hard and make a profit, they are also taught to spend some, save some and share some by giving back to their community. Since it’s launch in 2007 in Houston Texas, Lemonade Day has grown from serving 2,700 kids in one city to 1 million children across North America. Lemonade Day sparks the spirit of entrepreneurship and empowers youth to set goals, work hard, and achieve their dreams.

$21,000 total. That’s how much money was given to charity this year through our Genesis Mastermind program for law firm owners. One of the decisions we made when starting the program was to put a percentage of the members’ investment aside to donate to charity. We wanted to do something different. And charitable given being an automatic part of our program wasn’t something I’d seen before… Every meeting (so 3X per year), 1/3rd of that pot was given to a charity. The first $7,000 went to Lemonade Day, an organization supporting young entrepreneurs. The second $7,000 went to a Miami Cocker Spaniel rescue in honor of a member who lost his wife this year (who was with us at the first meeting). It was a cause that mattered to her, so our group was able to do good locally and show love to our member. The final $7,000 is going to Team Rubicon, which is a veteran-led aid group currently doing work to help the communities hit by hurricanes Helene and Milton. Each charity/organization is different, and I’m proud of every donation we made. Thank you to our awesome members. Without you, this doesn’t happen.
