Founded in 2022 by three sisters—Maria Silvestre, Sylvia Silvestre, and Jennifer Silvestre—Nasir + Idie was created out of a deep personal connection to a child with autism. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to design functional, fashionable, and affordable adaptive clothing for children with disabilities, making the everyday task of getting dressed easier for both children and caregivers. In partnership with the BronxSBDC (Small Business Development Center) and under the expert guidance of Patrick J. Saul, DBA, MBA, Nasir + Idie developed a robust business plan that helped them secure 1st place in the 2023 New York StartUp! Business Plan competition—earning them a $15,000 award. ?? This achievement will be pivotal in accelerating the growth of their brand, as they continue to create inclusive and accessible clothing for children with special needs. ??
