Donors to the College of Health play a vital role in advancing research and amplifying their impact through philanthropy. Meet Audrey Vitello, a Population Health senior who worked at Bristol Myers Squibb in Princeton, New Jersey as the Epidemiology Safety Sciences Intern last summer. Hear from Audrey! “My efforts have been dedicated to a literature review encompassing seven different endpoints within the myelofibrosis patient population as well as increasing the efficiency of a SharePoint site primarily used by the epidemiology strategists. This internship has allowed me to leverage critical skills, network across the company, and explore my interests in the industry. Meet Lauren Lencovich, a Population Health senior who worked at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as a Digital Health Intern in Digital and Technology Services in Summer 2024. ? Hear from Lauren! ?????? ? “I have been involved in program planning and evaluating data from program outcomes, allowing me to witness the strategic planning and implementation behind each program. I had multiple opportunities to shadow clinicians in the hospital. Shadowing in person showed me the direct impact of these programs and the overall positive environment at CHOP. At Lehigh, I have had multiple opportunities to explore how different forms of technology and media can impact one’s health perceptions and behaviors. Thomas McAndrew, assistant professor, Department of Biostatistics and Health Data Science in the College of Health, has received an award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to research and develop a novel approach to forecasting. ? ? One of his partners? The College of Health professor Rochelle Frounfelker, who will lead the work to identify the characteristics of public health decision processes. ? A gift to the COH supporting their early work paved the way to the NSF award, showcasing the power of philanthropy in advancing innovative research. V Spehar of Under The Desk News will be the third speaker in this year’s Compelling Perspectives series, which focuses on the role of media in contemporary society. Spehar is a citizen journalist and award-winning podcaster who has built a following of more than 3 million subscribers on TikTok. They will speak on Feb. 6 at Zoellner Arts Center. Spehar launched “Under the Desk News” with the goal of making news media less intimidating and easier to understand by delivering one-minute news segments while under a desk.
