This is more than a training; it’s about empowering our community with the tools to take action in critical moments. We’re committed to running these once a quarter in the neighborhoods that need them most. And every participant is walking away with a Stop the Bleed kit to ensure they’re prepared if the worst happens. Yesterday , Devin, Luis, and Javon were at the Massachusetts State House with hundreds of others for Safety Day on the Hill, an annual event bringing together advocates, legislators, and community leaders to push for policies that promote public safety, violence prevention, and community well-being. This day is about raising awareness, sharing lived experiences, and ensuring that decision-makers hear from those directly impacted by safety initiatives. Our team is there to listen, learn, and advocate for the resources our communities need. Today, as part of our “leaving the block series”, we had the privilege of visiting the Worcester Art Museum with our Legendary Legacies Inc Legacies participants. Together, we explored "The Way of Our Ancestors," an exhibit highlighting Native American heritage and resilience, and reflected on the powerful "Holy Family" painting by Reginald Gammon, which reimagines identity, culture, and faith through the lens of Black experiences. Afterward, we gathered for a deep conversation about identity what shapes it, who defines it, and how our histories and ancestors inform who we are today. Then what do we want for our future. As part of the 2025-2026 Racial Justice Cohort, Legendary Legacies Inc will partner with Blue Cross and four other not-for-profits including maternal and behavioral health experts, restorative justice leaders, and parent and caregiver groups across Massachusetts. We’re excited to announce that Legendary Legacies has been awarded funding through the Healey-Driscoll Administration's Emerging Adult Reentry Services initiative. This marks the first time that Central Massachusetts has received this critical support, which will enable us to expand our efforts in providing pre- and post-release services to young adults transitioning back into the community. We extend our deepest gratitude to Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the entir administration for recognizing the importance of this work. A special thanks goes out to the Worcester County Sheriff's Office , Worcester Police Department and all of our community partners for their continued collaboration and commitment to reducing recidivism and promoting public safety.
